My friend is hoping to adopt Herschel from Hearts United for Animals.


Does anyone have any advice on who to talk to and how to contact them for the best results?? Weinergal dont' you have a contact there through your little sponsor demon "Gus?"

I'll have to review some things at home before I can provide more specifics but here is some general advice. I adopted a little dachshund girl Aggie from them a little over two years ago. First off if you can call their phone number (listed on their web site 402-274-3679) you should get the fastest response. Go ahead and get their adoption form and fill it out. If my memory is correct I used the cut and paste approach (The form cam be found at http://www.hua.org/Adopt/app.html ) then e-mailed (dogshelter@aol.com) my completed form to them. The problem with their e-mail system is that unless things have changed all e-mail ends up going to their daughter who is back East some place who then calls and discusses things with her mother. I know they often use evening hours (when ever they finish feeding and other grooming chores to call prospective owners. I might have faxed in my application I can't really remember. In any case I would try the phone/fax (fax number is listed on the adoption form) approach for the fastest response. Herschel looks like a sweet boy. It's great to hear someone is willing to take a seven year old who needs a home. Please tell your friend not to give up on him they are just so busy at their shelter with so many little fellows to take care of.
