I'm thinking of trying to start up a dachshund meetup group of some sort in Calgary. Is there anyone in the area that would be interested???
I'm going to Vegas in a week, but when I get back I was thinking I could do up some flyers and post them in pet stores, etc.
Does anyone have any advice on doing something like this???

I'm not in Calgary, but not too far away. I would LOVE to be part of the meetup but I'ld only be able to join in the summer months. Perhaps an Alberta dachshund meetup? I did go to the Western Canada Dachshund Rescue Picnic held here in Alberta last year and it was wonderful seeing a whole lot of weenies running on a farm(ofcourse there were also some pretty hungry hawks that wouldn't leave, BOL)

Hello Everyone! I Have Made Up The Flyer That I Will Be Posting Around Calgary. Can You Please Let Me Know What You Think? This Is Just The Text Of Course, But If You Have Any Advice On Things To Put In Or Take Out, Just Let Me Know!
"we’re Calling All Sizes, All Colors, All Patterns, All Coats, And All Ages To Help Start Up A Dachshund Play Group In Calgary!
We Have Two Miniature Piebald Dachshunds Who Would Love To Get Together With Other Dachshunds And Their Humans.
This Group Would Only Be For People Who Are Not Interested In Breeding Their Pups, But Who Just Want To Meet Other Doxies And The Humans That They Own.
If This Sounds Like Something You And Your Doxie Would Be Interested In, Please Contact Me So We Can Get This Play Group Started!!!
Of Course, Up To Date Vaccinations Are A Must!
Both Of Our Doxies Have Been Altered. "

Gary (Buku54 here?) has made Orlando's group an incredible success. He bordered on nutso to get it that way in the begining, though- stopping in the middle of the road when he saw a dachsie being walked to chase them down with flyers, calling local papers to get them to run articles, posting everywhere- but I think in the last couple of months, it just nurses itself! Word of mouth is the best adverstisement- it's just getting those first mouths in that takes a little work. :)
Good luck!!
