If ANYONE is in the Atlanta area, or even within a few hours drive of Atlanta, I would not want to miss this show. I believe this may be one of the largest DCA National shows thus far.
On Tuesday, April 4th, 2006 393 dachshunds entered
On Wednesday, April 5th, 2006 468 dachshunds entered
On Thursday, April 6th (*this show is spread out over 3 days) 562 dachshunds entered. WOW.
Who would want to miss this show if you could possibly attend. Of course the winners will be few and far between, just getting a ribbon in your class would be GREAT...LOL.
I have went to DCA Nationals in Mesa, AZ in 2000, Portland, OR in 2001, Osh Kosh, WI in 2002, missed the last two years due to location and I am definately attending DCA 2006!
I really hope some of you will be able to attend.

Sophie and I will be there for Earthdog, March 31, Apr 1. Will you be around at that time? I'd love to stay longer, but $$$$ and time from work are issues there.

I am entered in the Newnan, GA shows the weekend before DCA starts. I won't be going to the field trials. I am sure for the most part people will be nice, there are always those who are nasty unfriendly people. just avoid them. :D

I'm hoping all goes well. I've been wanting to get competitive with Sophie. A lot of those active locally turn their nose up at someone not "established". BTW, your pups are beautiful!!!!! :hug2: Peaches is my fave! :D

Well if you are not in the "Click" they can be quite snobby. Sometimes the same people win over and over again. I have seen a few ruthless things happen at field trials. The judges opinion is about the same as a judges opinion at conformation shows, it is subjective and may or may not be the best opinion. I like earthdog though, at least you don't have to compete with the other dogs for a position. If your dog does it, it does it, each dog can be a winner if it does what it is supposed to do.
Good Luck and just avoid those who are not friendly, there will be plenty who are :D

Handlers and their dogs at field events like Field Trials and earthdog, in my experience, are usually very approachable and friendly. They are not under the same type of stress one may be under in conformation where they are getting their dogs ready to look their best in the ring. Let me tell you, know one is worried about looking their best at earthdog :) you know you and the dog are usually going to get dirty and lord only knows once you let that dog loose what he's gonna do! Same for field trials. There are always, especially at nationals, newbies to either earthdog or field trials. So, go, have fun and make a bunch of new friends for you and your dog!

I am still so bummed I won't be there!! :(
