Jen, I'm too far away to help, so I'll just wish you luck. Hope the DRNA reps can help you out. Are there any CCDR people in that area?

BTW new information i called the woman back and the dogs are standards aprox 25lbs each no shots for at LEAST the last year and no heartworm meds http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/frown.gif I think i am moving up to needing to club these ppl rather than using a bat. *arg ... arg... arg*!!

Hi Jen,

I am with CCDR here in Florida. Please let me know if you still need help with these two longhaired babies. I can check to see who is available to take these two into foster if you need us! Sounds like the situation is desperate!!! I will wait to hear from you!

Nadine takes a little while to get back to you. She may have server problems and will get back to you when she is back online. Have not heard from her on the list today at all. I know Roxanne has had dealings with Dennis but being the weekend many folks may be out. Let me know if you don't hear from them as I know Tom Flynn was looking for a longhair and probably could arrange transport if Jen can't hold them long. Thats all I can do for now from way out here in the desert

Jen,

Great news that you have foster for these two babies. I will say a prayer that they are h/w negative also. We have so many here in FL that come in h/w positive. It is so heartbreaking.

If you ever need help in that area again, please feel free to call on me.

Please post an update on these sweeties when you get them

Thank you very much Therese sometimes these things are very difficult to figure out esp. since none of us in NC with the exception of Roxane can foster. Usually getting the dogs is no problem (at least for me) but finding them places to stay is often times hard so any help with foster homes would be greatly appreciated.

Jen--

I'm in Virginia, but only about 4.5 hours from the NC border, and I can foster in the future if necessary....

Thanks Jen for getting these babies!! I am very excited. And thanks to Best Friends (an all breed rescue in Raleigh who I volunteer with - on the side of doing shelter rescue at a pound) who accepted the dogs into their program.

And I've convinced my husband that we can foster the female. We can't foster males cuz my boarder collie doesn't like other males on his turf, but everyone likes females. Except Betty who gets her feelings hurt.

Great job! It can be so hard to coordinate rescue efforts, especially when things have to move fast! Proud of ya! <IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm30.gif" border=0>

This is really wierd... The female dachsie that I am fostering is named Sweetie (her name from her old owners). That is the same name that I gave the wolfhound who I had PTS last week (posted about it in Loving Memory) because she was dying a slow death from poision in the pound.

I guess that it is meant to be that this doggie crosses my path.

I cant wait to see them. I hope they are in good shape!! No matter what im sure the little girl will live up to her name "Sweetie" i bet the lil boy is a pistol being that hes a year old and notneutered...lol This should be interesting. YAY for Best Friends Rescue!! YaY for Jennifer! YaY for Roxane!!!

See ya tomorrow night at the Cracker Barrel be there or be square (that sounded dorky but rhymed..lol)

To those rescuers in areas where there are more helping hands, may I tell you how lucky you are. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/bounce.gif
I realize there never is enough help but...
NC is a large state, from the border with Tenn. west, to the Atlantic, east. For about 8 months I have been networking with people in this state, attempting to get a willing group of active workers together. A group that would be able to interact with DRNA, C2CDR and any other organization devoted to dachshunds.
The result; Wee Three. That's it. Thanks to this board, Jennifer, Jen and I have been closely united to do what we can.
We are widely separated geographically. I am in the far western section, Jen centrally located and Jennifer a bit more east.
We realize our limitations but also realize, doing something is better than doing nothing.
If any of you know dachshund owners in NC whom we could interest in this project we would appreciate that information. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif
We need people who will really be active, not those who just want to carry the title "rescuer".http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/rolleyes.gif
All your support for Jen and Jennifer, on this rescue, is well deserved. Their hearts are in the right place.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/heart.gif
Hugs all around,
Roxane and crew
