Hi Jean:
Had my little mic all plugged in, anxious to meet and greet my electronic friends. Drat, it's webtv gliches again. Spoke to Customer Service and they said if the only way I can get into the Chat Room is via Internet Explorer, I'd better plan on doing something else on Wed. nights.
This is going to break Baylea and Gretas hearts, they were all ready to bark "hello". Now that I have conquered the UBB codes and the smilies, I thought I had it made in the shade.
Thanks,
Roxane
Ah, heck! It would have been GREAT to talk with you and your puppers, Roxane. I've looked at the HearMe Voice Creator's FAQ (http://vp.hearme.com/products/vp/evp_help.html?version=1,2,1,8a) . This is what it says about "system requirements":

"What are the system requirements?
Windows 95/98/2000/NT
500KB disk space
Pentium 100 MHz or faster (200 MHz recommended)
A sound card
Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, Netscape 4.08 or later, or AOL 4.0 or later.*
Microphone (headset model recommended)
Speakers
Note: If you do not have a small speaker icon on the right hand side of the taskbar (normally at the bottom of your screen), then you either do not have a sound card or do not have appropriate sound drivers installed."

I've tried using Netscape Communicator 4.73 but it didn't work for me. It showed me as being the only one in the room while, in fact, there were two other people there, too. Has anyone else tried using Netscape?
For those of you who have Mac's, I don't know if this will be of any help, but this is what the FAQ says:

"Can I use HearMe VoiceCREATOR on my Mac?
At this point in time, the product is not supported on a Macintosh platform. We've heard reports of people having success with running HearMe in an emulation mode through a product called VirtualPC from Connectix (www.connectix.com), but we can neither verify nor guarantee this support.
We are, however, working towards having a Mac compatible version available soon."

It sure would be nice if we could figure something out.

Jean, thanks so much for your research and posting the system requirements. Will take the information to a webtv newsgroup that specializes in chatting. Have discovered that the long time webbies are far smarter than our customer service.
As you know I have a lot of "stuff" (original plays) stored in my Power Mac, but was considering going on line with it, just Wed. nights. Then I read the last part of your post.
Back to the drawing board. You know I won't give up until...
Thanks again,
Roxane

Hi David, Mr. Moderator:
Interesting question. I will do my best to find out re:Microsoft Netmeeting.
Hope you had a good turnout Wed. night.

I hope that we can work something out, maybe with net meeting.
We had 6 members, 7 if you include my wife who was with me.
Once word gets out I am sure that we will have a full room. It's too bad that webtv and Macs can not work with hearme.

Dear Mr. Moderator:
Way to go! Seven is great for just getting started. Still doing research. Keep coming across the question: "Who is the server?" Not sure what the answer is unless HearMe VoiceCreator is the answer. I have never "chatted" nor used Instant Message. Webtv Help Center (online information) says webtv uses Talk City. Thanks for staying current with me on this.
