Just wondering, Dudley rarely shed mainly when he was nervous like when he went to the Vets. I would be covered in hair.
It has turned really warm here in Fl. and Dexter is shedding like crazy. Little black hairs all over. I am brushing him more, and he got his bath today, his hair is longer than Dudleys and he has more hair than Dud. He is still nice and shinny. Do your puppers shed? It isn't really a problem I just warn people who pick him up they will have multi colored clothing:D and I vacuum more which Dexter hates.

Mazzy is a smoothie. I don't notice her shedding much at all, but my corgi-mix-watch out-she sheds like crazy.:dizzy: You can brush & brush & brush & you will still have fur flying.

This time of the year Gunner and Petunia are shedding pretty bad. Just gave Petunia a bath and nails will be done when hubby get home. Gunner will go to the groomer's sometimes this week because he doesn't let me do his nails, I can't see paying 10 dollars to get his nails done when it cost 18 for the works.

Add Schatz to that list too! It is driving my husband crazy because they boys sleep in our bed. Pull back the covers and you can tell just where Schatz was sleeping! We have to change the sheets every other day. I use one of those sticky hair lifters in between!

I use those sticky hair lifters all the time on my couch and love seat also. I still have to clean the tub there is dog hair all over in there.

I brush and massage Oscar and Buck every day - but have not noticed any shedding problems. Maybe being in the A/C in the house most of the time except for walks helps - but I'm not sure.

I use a rubber toothed brush that fits over the palm of my hand. I got it at PetSmart or Petco - not sure which one. It's blue and has a strap like affair that your hand slides into. The brush has no handle. It seems to do a nice job. They enjoy being brushed. :)

I will try and get one of those as Dexter hates the brush, put maybe he would like that.

I think he would like it. Mine don't like a regular brush either. They try to take it away and bite on it.

:jawdrop:

I just paid $20 EACH (yeah, Canadian $$, but still!!!) for nail trim last Thurs. night (and they left the nails too long, V still scratches me, and both click on the floors)

Can't say that I have noticed much shedding, but after 30 years of golden retrievers, 2 mini doxies would go unnoticed.

I found a great rubber brush at Tuesday Morning. It has short rubber "nubs" instead of bristles. A few quick passes on the li'l smoothie and that's it. Any loose hairs are in the brush. Very effective. I think it cost about $3.00.

I got Petunia done she was good with the bath and nails, Gunner took a while to get his nails done but now he just needs a bath so I don't have to take him to the groomers. I have brush thats like a glove and my 2 love it.

my Corgi-mix sheds constantly, a lot, regardless of my brushing efforts! My tweenie dachsie rarely sheds so I guess it's a compromise. I love them both anyway! I just vacuum the furniture more, and try to stay away from black clothes.

I actually use the sticky rolly thing on Charlie himself. Every other day I get it out, usually after using it on my sheets and use it on him. He loves it. With him being short hair a brush is pointless. Hair ends up flying everywhere. This way the loose hair sticks to it and I can just tear it off and throw it in the trash. He just sits there like "yeah that's the spot ma".

Yes, Ally shed's at certain times of the year too. She is just now going through her "molt". I ususally give her a bath at those times I notice it and it does remove quite a bit of the shedding hairs. I know it's a pain....but some dogs are much worse!

Tomorrow I'm going to Petco and Target to get the glove and the sticky thing. I really don't care about the hair, I just know some people don't like it when he has been sitting on them and they have hair on them (though I warn them and they all sware they don't care) Now I will just hand them the sticky thing to clean themselves off.

Joyce I used to be like that ( not like dog hair on my pants) but I have mellowed with age LOL Gunner and Petunia are the first indoor pups i have---they have taken over the house :)

Panda sheds a lot. I really notice the white hairs.
It seems like the white patches are thicker. I use
a tape roller on her, it helps a lot.

Mine all shed but Oakley is the worst!! I also use a sticky roller on my clothes and furniture..etc and keep one in my car at all times..never tried it on the dog though. I also use a brush and a mitt brush, they seem to like the mitt the best!

Great idea!

Also too, I was flipping through the tv and there was a gut trying to sell a home remedy kinda of book, he said that if you use the sticky roller after they first come in from outside that it can pick up fleas and ticks. Now I have done that and have picked up a flea. This was before I started using the flea preventative stuff, but still not a bad idea to do it anyway just in case as an extra precaution. But yeah it works great on him to remove loose hair and too he loves it!

Thanks everyone for your ideas. I finally got the sticky lint roller and I love, love, love, it. I used it on Dexter this am and he loved it, it was like hey Mom keep it up this feels good. I can't believe how good it works. Thanks again. Now if someone gets bent out of shape with the dog hair, I'll just hand them the brush. :cheer:

Oliver doesn't shed unless we go to the vets' office and that's just nerves. Tammy does shed though quite a bit. I use a lint remover on my sheets in the morning and a swifter cloth on my floors every day. She sheds even with regular brushing.

I would do the same Joyce...give my guests a lint roller before they leave! LOL.

we are getting ready to order a furminator www.furminator.com. Billy's hair is SO thick, plus we have a cat who sheds like crazy. I run my roomba, at least every other day, and it is still full of animal hair.

If you haven't been to the furminator website, you should watch their video. It is pretty impressive.
