Hello everyone,

I am new to this board, but am not new to rescue. I am with Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue in FL. I work with Andrea DeGagne who I know a lot of you know from this bulletin board. Andrea's doxie Roger came from Pat March (another CCDR rep) and myself here in Florida! That is how Andrea and I met.

I have been doing Dachshund Rescue for about 4 years now. I have four rescued doxies of my own. Mugsy, Tanya, Dakota and Toastie. They are all smooth coats and range in age from 8 years to 13 years old. I just adore the Dachshund breed and knew there was a need for rescue here in FL. Boy are we busy!!

We usually have no less than 20 doxies fostered here in Florida at any given time. I have developed a wonderful foster program in my state, but we always need more foster help around the country.

If you think you would like to become involved with Dachshund Rescue, please let me know. I know that fostering is not always possible, but there are so many other things you can do to help. From transporting a doxie to their new home, to helping with a homevisit, to picking up a doxie from a shelter for us, to helping with fundraising.
We always need new volunteers around the country!

I look forward to contributing to this board, and to help out with any rescue issues that may arise.

Welcome Therese!

Sound like you've got your hands full of wienerdogs! I'm in CA, and though I cannot drive a car (low vision) I'd love to help out more than just sitting by and watching. Anyone in CA, what can I do? We have fostered a bit, but it's hard since we live in a condo and are at our 2 dog limit.....Dolly 4 years old small standard red/brindle smoothie and Madison 3years old mini smooth black and tan. Hubby drives but I want to be able to contribute in some way or another. We could do very short hops like transporting from shelter to home. Is there anything else I can do?

Bless all of you who are there for those of our breed in need. We love you!

Hi Sandi!

Yes, I do have my hands full most of the time!! LOL...Besides all the doxie rescue work I am involved in, I have three little girls ages 5, 4 and 10 months old! They keep me busy too!! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Anyway, you can certainly get involved in CA. I can have one of our CA reps contact you if you like. Please email me privately if you feel you would like some additional information!

Thank you!!

Therese
