I went to Shawnee to show 2 of the 4 days in agility (since all of my dogs are already finished champions I had nothing to show in conformation). We came home with 3 qualified runs (out of the 4 runs we did) and Harper now has 2 Open P jumper legs and 1 Open P standard leg. WOO HOO! I'm so proud of him. I had to move him down from the regular Excellent classes because he was getting depressed by *dropped bar* issues. He is moving so well now that I could probably put him back in the regular classes but I'm going to go ahead and finish his excellent titles in the P level first.

I'm so proud of my little man - plus we made new admirers of the wirehairs of owners of other breeds.....so much so that one is wanting to obtain a wire <G>

Thank you! It was great :)

And as great as his runs were, I was as thrilled with having someone with *faster* dogs be interested in our breed!

Wish I'd known you were going. Would have told you to find Beckie there.
She and Sherry drove out last week and met Marcella at the Shawnee show.

Congratulations!!! Sounds like you and Harper are a great team!

Miss Lucy has been finishing all of her courses and has 24 ribbons this year, but not one NADAC Q yet. Maybe this weekend in Hutto...

Hi Cindi,

I didn't meet you but I came over on Friday night and saw most of the doxie specialty. We didn't see the agility. I wish I could have. I did get to meet Becky and see a few of her dogs. I'm happy for you and Harper:cheer: :cheer: Hope you had a good time in Oklahoma. Sorry it was sooo hot! There is a big show in OKC this summer. Do you come to that one?

I saw Beckie and Sherry there but didn't introduce myself. I believe Sherry had a win on Sunday......I couldn't see wires any day EXCEPT the specialty. Marcella and I already know each other.

Jana, did you see the piebalds shown by Lori Wilson? Stunning male and cute female. The OKC show in the summer doesn't offer anything as far as performance and right now I don't have a conformation dog to show as all of mine are finished.

AND,t hat is one nice thing about NADAC - you can still get a ribbon if you don't Q and you can get 1/2 runs or 1/2 a Q <GG> However, you would have loved these courses as they were set up MUCH more like NADAC than AKC runs!

Thanks EVERYONE for the congrat's. It means a lot!

I do remember seeing one piebald that won in it's group, I think. It was really good looking. I really don't know much at all about how that all works and I didn't have a program until almost the end so I didn't know whose was whose for the most part. I was just enjoying all the beautiful dogs. There was a mother and daughter down from Indiana that we were sitting next to. The daughter was showing her little black and tan male. They were very nice and kind of helped us know what was going on.

I would have loved to see the agility though. That looks like so much fun.
That's too bad the OKC show doesn't offer that.

Yeah, the beauty contest is hard to follow until you get a grasp of what is going on :) There are boy classes and the winner of each class goes in after all the boy classes are done. The winner of THAT bunch of dogs is called Winners Dog and he is the only boy that gets points towards his championship that day. Then the same thing goes on for the girls (these are all dogs that are not champions of record). Then the Winners Dog and Winners Bitch go in the ring with the champions of record (called Specials) to vie for Best of Variety, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex to Variety.

The mother and daughter were LOVELY people. They came over and watched in agility. They were very nice (also had a Mastiff dog being shown) and their dog won the points on Sunday!

Yes, she was worrying about the mastiff being back in the hotel room for so long during the dachshund show. Did they get the points on the dachshund? She didn't think the mastiff would do anything. I'm glad they got some points. They were really hoping they would get something to make the long drive worth while.
