Me again, I guess I find this site to be the most educating I have seen, anyway, just in reading a few of the other letters many have stated that the submissive urination will be out grown. How long did you all wait. My vet said a year and if not by then i'd have to live with it. We have calmed it substantially but accidents do happen. My mom said she will no longer puppy sit because all she does is pee (in her lap) As the wiener-parents it's easier to work with but it is a problem for the puppy sitter. Does my girl still have a chance to out-grow this ? Until then, harwood floors and a leather couch are the best things a pet owner could have. Thanks for your help

My Willamena had this problem. When we came home, she'd be so happy and she could not hold it. She did get better with age, but if left alone for a few hours, we would be greeted with licks and puddles.
If she is in a different place or situation, maybe she is marking? Sorry, can't help any further.

Our Harley seems to have a submissive urination problem, too. If he gets excited, he look down to check his "pee-pee" too see if anything slipped out.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/eek.gifWhen my husband comes home, Harley is so excited to see him, my husband has to ignore him OR ELSE. Harley is a little embarrassed about his problem.http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/emb.gif:

Hi!
Submissive peeing. Hmmmmm. Sounds like some of us have been there-done that!
Wotan whizzed easily while under a year. My females didn't, so I'm not sure what girls eventually end up doing.
One of the best things is to Ignore and Downplay the excitement of the moment. I'd not pick up the dachsie until she was calmed-or let her crawl on my lap herself. Then not make a big deal of noticing...
I'd definately wait out the year to give the dog time to mature.
Good luck

My Brownie has the same problem. When we come home or have friends over we try to ignore her for the first ten minutes or so. It gets her a chance to calm down a little bit.
She still does it once in a while, but that is only when friends or family come by and the hoomans have not pick up on the idea of ignoring her for a couple of minutes.
Good luck http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Our Lucy is a year and a half and still does it! We have been able to work it out to let her out the back door of our house to greet us, in case. I have seen a little improvement when I am very low key in greeting her... Hard to make everyone else that comes over get that, tho.
Here's hoping she will still outgrow it! Glad to know that others have.
