Those of you that were at wens. night chat know that i was going to be picking up another doxie rescue out of a bad situation. Her name is Storm (after the xmen character...lol) Shes a 7mo old blk/tan longhair. The problem is with Cassie here possibly expecting puppers (starting the think maybe a false preg) and needing to save my funds for possible csec. and other med. bills i cant afford to get everything she needs done so i want to get her into the rescue also with my son in school i dont have the time i used to to be on the phone trying to find homes and doing the interviews etc. Shes having considerable problems with her back leg/hip although she doesnt really let it slow her down when she sits she whimpers i imagine this injury happened from one of the times the SOB or his kids smacked her around (she lives close to me i know the injury is at least 4mos old)... despite what shes been through shes a tropper and isnt even too hand shy like you would think she would be ... but she doesnt listen to anything you say its almost like they have made her unable to feel pain or dipleasure (does that make sense?) I have put her on advantage because she was majorly flea infested and interceptor (she had never had a heartworm pill in her life) Shes NOT spayed she needs like everything all her shots and stuff and right now i just cant afford it with the babies i already have... but i couldnt leave her there... so please contact me soon ...i know you said you would shelly and i know you guys are swamped... but Winston HATES her all he does is walk around the house growling which is not like him at all. Shes a very dominate dog which makes for alot of problems here we need to get her moved into a perm. or foster home that will be able to give her the extra time she needs. Oh yeah when i talked to you wens. i said i thought she was about 8 or 9 lbs shes a little bigger than i thought shes more of a 11#'r but shes got the body of a standard shes kinda skinny in my opinion shes been wormed once with Dronset (sp) got a pill yesterday along with the other stuff from the vet. They have been feeding her Jim Dandy (crap in a bag) but she doesnt really like it i mixed it with my sensible choice this morning and she picked out all the S.C. and left the other junk in the bowl ...such a smart girl. Anyways sorry so long winded. I just need you to have someone email me like asap. she needs to be somewhere with someone that can get this leg taken care of i hate to see her limping around. Thanks alot... i feel bad to bug you guys in rescue so soon ... but i feel bad for my Winnie too hes pretty upset about her being here http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/frown.gif He normally loves other dogs but she stands over him and puts her but in his face every chance she gets he doesnt like her games...shes a bossy woman ...lol but dont worry its not like im gonna chuck her out if you can get here tomorrow or anything . .. shes safe and taken care of until you guys can meet me somewhere or something. Shes just pretty high maintance with the other dogs its hard to give her the attention she craves she is so jealous she whines if i go to pet the other dogs and if you crate her all she does is whine and whine. No sleep for me!! lol Hope to hear from someone soon. Again thanks

Jen and Shelley, How is Storm with kids? I read about her on the DRNA list, but can't remember. i have a 2 year old and 5 dogs of my own. I could ask the hubby if he minds fostering her. He tells me 5 is the limit but if I sweet talk he might give in. I just want to be sure she is ok for a toddler.
Tanya
If (and it's probably a big if) my hubby agrees, can we get to South GA?

Tanya,
I live in Raleigh, NC about an hour from where Jen is. I'd be willing to help with transporting Storm in any way that I can. I had just sent Jen an email to that effect. I just checked and you are about 11 hours from here. Maybe someone else could help with a Southern South Carolina leg or a North GA leg of the trip.
Crossing fingers that you can sweet talk your hubby..
Just let me know.

Jen,
I just saw your post about Storm not being fond of other dogs. I do have 5 so that does concern me. Three are seniors. I will gladly take Storm to foster if you need me to and can't find another home, but if you find a better home with no dogs then that would probably be best. Just let me know. I don't want her to hurt my 5 nor would I want them to harm her.

I agree Tanya she seems to be ok with the more submissive dogs... but my other alpha and more dom. dogs she tends to butt heads with i mean no blood or anything but since you have seniors shes kinda a wild child NO obedience trainning it may be best to see if we can find her a place with less dogs or something who has a set up to deal with her hey she knows me and my dogs so that may be the reason shes showin her but she might become more shy when shes in totally new surroundings but i dont want to chance anything. Thanks for your offer ill keep it in mind and let you know as soon as i hear more from the rescue http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif Thats so sweet of you to pitch in like that thank your hubby too most hubbys wouldnt be so kind http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

I hope so too... i feel so bad for her having to be shuffled around if i could keep her here i would most def. but there is no way it wouldnt be fair to her with the other dogs and possibly pups on the way shes so jealous of the other dogs i dont think i could trust her with pups in the house. Thanks so much though http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Update on New Lil Girl Susie aka Storm more like Tornado...lol She has a appt at the vet. this morning at 9:30 am to get spayed and have her shots done (cant really afford it but i dont want her going into heat either ...yuck...lol) The vet. will be looking at her legs again and give me a estimate on how much it will cost to fix them and what corse of action to take ... somedays she seems to do really good somedays she limps around and whimpers alot ... Cassies xray was posponed because of getting the new dog i will be bringing her to the vet. this morning also for her xray if shes not preggers which the good news is i dont think she is... she hasnt gotten any bigger and her little boobies are getting flatter and back to their normal size (yay for false preg.) we want to have her xrayed just to be sure before we get her spayed never know there could be one loan pup in there or something.. if everything checks out she will get spayed friday... and go to her new home middle of next week. Im gonna try to take some pics of them tonight to share with you guys. Thanks for all your support and kind caring words and prayers for these babies. I have been searching for little Storm a home i think i may have found the right ppl the will be comming out this weekend for a visit for all of us to meet... then we shall see what happens http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif Thanks Shelly and all the other rescuers i understand that the foster homes are full so i just kept checking into stuff and the woman at the shelter had a list of ppl waitting for small dogs dachshunds in particular so i called a couple ppl... and think i may have found a match. Just keeping my fingers crossed. <IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm30.gif" border=0> Welp gotta go let all the troops out and start getting ready have a good day everyone http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Another Update ... spays are done on BOTH girls they are both here and happy (as happy as they can be after surgery anyways)... Cassie goes home with the Lawerence family on sat. and Susie will be going to a older lady that my vet. suggested ... he was dead on about her she is one of the sweetest ladies i have ever met she met Susie this morning and as she called it "ate her up" LOL She wants her to recoup here think she doesnt want to get attached until she sure shes fine from the spay i assured her she will be fine... Susie is in a leg cast also the problem with her hip was due to blunt trauma to the rear it dislocated her hip she had her hip set yesterday after a xray this woman is paying me a $200 adoption fee to cover most of what i had to pay in vet. bills ... i asked her why for $200 she didnt just look for a brand new pup she said she wanted this pup... that took the cake shes perfect. Im gonna take some pics i hope tonight my photographers back went out on him (my best friend actually) so hes been laid up in bed but i want pics before they leave!! Thanks for everyones kind words seems as though im having some good luck this week ... Cassies not preggers shes spayed and Susie wont require surgery if all goes well http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif THank goodness http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif
Jen
Oh yeah lemme add this if this doesnt work with susie's leg they will have to insert pins ... my vet. is going to press abuse charges aganist her previous owners!! Go Dr. H!!!!!!

Hi Jen,
Sounds like you have been very busy. Congratulations on finding both girls good homes. I know all about those post surgical adoptions. When I got Aggie from Hearts United she flew out just a few days post spay. We made our first vet visit so that we could combine it with getting her stitches out. If it hadn't been for needing those stitches out we would have made a first the day after she arrived. Even knowing they have come from a good rescue group or person I still like to have my own vet check over any new addition.
Keep up the good work we really appreciate your dedication.

Jen,
I am so incredibly glad to hear Cassie is not preggers..thank goodness..no puppies..in a world with such high pet population it is great to not have any added to the numbers.

Just a quick update Cassie and Susie went to their new forever homes yesterday. Both families promised to keep me posted on how they do! I really was happy for the lady that took Susie she had lost her dog and now she has a brand new face washing machine she was so happy you could tell she could barely contain herself it made it easier for me to let her go knowing that this woman needed her as much as Susie needed a home http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif Cassie was all wiggles and wags when the Lawerences showed up lastnight! I know they will be happy but im gonna miss em ... its hard not to get attached to them. But all is well that ends well http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Jen keep up the good work. As difficult as it must be to say goodbye to each dog that passes through your home it must be cases like Susie and her new forever mate that make it all worth while.
