We're so pleased to have you with us. This board is just wonderful if I do say so myself.
I love that name, "Awful" because they can be, can't they?
Question: how on earth did you go from Sherpherds to trying to train and show dachsies - sounds like an exercise in some sort of torment in that our babies are hardly the most agreeable subjects. You must enjoy a challenge. Do you still show Shepherds as well? - Georgette

No due to a divorce I was forced to sell and place all of my shepherds.A new husband and a home where we could only have a 20 pound dog (since I was having a dog withdrawal) set us to find a small dog we both liked, thus the Dachshund.By the way Awful got her name because when she was born she weighted a WHOPPING 14 oz. then she got to be Awful nice besides Awful Big she still is a big girl at 24 pounds. We bred her we owned her Mom our First Dachshund Fudgie we lost Fudgie 2 years ago now but have her picture as a screen saver,we will always miss the old LADY.Fudgie was our first everything First Champion, had our First litter.Gave me my First loss in the Obedience ring by her visiting the ring side (never leaving the ring) to HOLD COURT as only a Dachshund can do.Fudgie was also the mother the most titled Standard Longhairs with 13 titles in many different countries to be bred and owned by Americans. If anyone has the Dachshund Magazine put out by Dog Fancy look on page 104 and see Fudgie. Two of our other dogs are on pages 71 & 10 in the same book.We also had one of our girls on the cover of the 1999 pet prints engagement diary and 1 more on the May page of the same.Oh that was Sallie on the cover and Tray was MR.May.Annie Sallie's sister was in the 1999 wall calander. Our dogs love to SHOW OFF all Dachshunds do.We also got a call today Looks like Sallie, Tray and Guy-Guy will be in 2 calendars for 2002 we will keep you all posted as to which one. I case anyone is wondering our dogs ARE FAMILY first pets if you want to say that(I really think my husband and I are their pets)then they are show dogs or field or what ever they WANT to do.Tudox

http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/wavey.gif Hi, Kaye! Welcome to the board! It's wonderful to have another committed and knowledgeable breeder among us. I'm sure you'll have lots of great info--and probably a good story or two--to share. You probably know the breeder of my big boy Farfel--Kris Nielsen, Dachshunds of Pinewood, up near Duluth, Minnesota.
Any chance you will be at the IKC show in Chicago in February? A couple of us are planning to go--we'd love to meet you and your dogs!

Hello to all. My name is Misty. In my family is Carl (husband), Taylor (son),Ears (poddle), Alex (mix). And in our departed Toby (dashie) http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/frown.gif . We are looking to adopt another dashie. Seem to be having a hard time at it. That is in our area. But we will contiune until the right one comes into our lives. Our hearts are open to animals. Toby will always be remembered. We are not looking to replace him only to give love to another one... This is a great site and I am enjoying my self already here... http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif
Hi Misty and Welcome to you and your "pack" http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/wavey.gif
That's quite a crew you have there and please accept my sympathies regarding Toby.
There may be some members here involved in rescue with connections in the West Virginia area that could help you find another Dachsie.
I'm glad you like our board and we're really glad you're here!
