Hello Everyone!

Thanks for the big hello. Omar is a red wire haired doxie. Omar is very ball crazy and will try to get anyone who comes near him to play. I would say he has a very good L@@K that makes you want to just hug him so tight.

Omar is my first doxie. I got him when he was a pup or should I say he picked me. It all happened by accident (who am I kidding everything happens for a reason) I went to this vets office to find a good breeder where I could get a good dog. Little did I know when I walked into the office that day I would be walking out that same office next week with a little dachshund. You see the breeder was the Doctor and he had a litter that was for sale. He had the pups in is office the day I walked in and Omar can running over to meet me and he put his little paw up on my shoe and gave me the L@@K. Well I fell in love that very moment. I asked if I could take a couple of days to think this over and if he was willing would I be able to purchase Omar. Now five years latter I am still nuts about that little doxie.

Well enough of me rambling on.

Hi Bill,

I love the story of how you got Omar. So is the vet you got Omar from still caring for him?

Hi Tom,

Yes the vet still cares for Omar. I can not imagine going any place else. Let me tell you when Omar arrives in that office he is treated like royalty. Although Omar is scared to go the office because of the poking and prodding, I know he is receiving the very good treatment. It is so funny watching Omar jumping and hopping around when we get out of the car until you open the door to the vets office then he immediately sits on his rump and has to be carried in.

There are a couple of things I like about the setup at my vet's office that I have taken advantage of to help keep it a happy place instead of a place to be dreaded. First their scale is at the far end of their weighting room and you can feel free to drop in any time just to use the scale. It's a very nice platform electronic scale measures in the tenths of a pound. The waiting room is rather large since they have four vets on staff. The other things that are great is a large yard /play area to explore and a agility area with A-Frame (my boys don't like that one) a teeter (they say what's the big deal, weave poles (this doesn't make sense dad), adjustable jumps (the most fun) and a tire jump (to hard to do while on leash). By going there on the average of once a month without seeing the vet makes them feel very relaxed about being there it's only when they get up onto the steel table that they start to tense up.

It must be great to have a vet that knows you little guy so well. I can see why he would get special treatment.

I almost hesitate to interrupt all this boy talk ( http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif ), but had to say, Great story, Bill! Don't think I've ever seen a red wirehair--got any photos?

Hi Wienergal,

I should have said my little omar is a cross between a smooth and a wire hair. Omar decided not to grow the beard Al

I will have to take some photos to work so I can scan them for posting.
