hello everyone (I didn't mean to put a "thumbs up" in the message topic space...sorry)
I am new to this particular board and I am really enjoying it so far. I lost my soulmate...my perfect little Angel (her name actually) on April 17th this yearhttp://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/kfrown.gif She lost her life due to a fox or a larger dog most likely. She was only a year and a half. I was and still am completely devastated. She was sooooo amazing and absolutely the best friend I have ever had. When I found her lifeless but still soft body in my neighbors yard that morning, I thought I would die right there with her. I cradled her for a few hours...in agony and disbelief...my parent's there with me. My dad dug her a grave and got a coffin for her. Inside it, I put her favorite pillow and toy...along with photos of us lining the inside. I put a recent picture of her on the outside along with a written tribute. God I miss her. This has been the most excrutiating time in my life. I still cry every day.
But four days ago I got a new little darling. Her name is Mia and she is six weeks old. She is just beautiful and already so sweet. I can tell she is going to be a wonderful dog too. I take her everywhere I go, just like I did with Angel. I have the sherpa bag that looks like a tote bag...so nobody knows I have her with me.
She is TINY! and this light red (almost cream) color with black in some areas. Her nose is not quite black and her nails are light brown...she is sooo darn cute!
Well sorry this was kinda long...I just wanted to introduce myself and my new baby http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/love.gif

Hi Mia's Mommie,
Not that is ever an easy way to loose a companion but your experience must have been devastating. While Mia will never replace Angle she will go a long way towards filling that aching hole in your heart. Welcome to the board as you read the postings and write your own messages you will soon get to know all the regulars here on the board.

Hello Mia's mom and welcome to the board. I was so sorry to hear about your precious Angel but also know that Mia will help to mend your heart. Please keep in touch and know that we are here for you. My two boys, Rusty and Duffer send you lots of 'feel better soon' loving daschie kisses and send Mia 'welcoming daschie kisses.' Take care and I look forward to hearing lots about Mia (that's a cute name).

Thanks so much for the welcome and words of encouragement Tom & Kathy, it means the world to me.
Kathy, my first dachsie love was named Rusty, he was the full brother to Angel. When he was a year and a half (ironic huh) I went out of town for two days leaving him in the care of my now EEEXXXXXXX boyfriend (should have never left him for a second)Well, I never saw him again. The ex said he ran away right after a freak earthquake we had in Las Vegas. But everytime I called from where I was to see if he had found my Rusty,(which was like, every hour until I got back the next day) he always answered the phone (which meant he was not out there looking for my baby) I thought I would die then too, my face COMPLETELY broke out all over from the stress....I spent two full weeks doing nothing but searching, going to shelters putting up fliers you name it. The pain was almost worse than losing Angel because I never knew what happened to him. Then in December of that year, I got Angel, she was the last pup before they spayed the mom, and was actually promised to someone else but they let me have her....I was so blessed to have gotten her. She healed me from that grief and then some....She was absolutely perfect in every way. I taught her to sing, to balance croutons or fruit loops on her nose while sitting up (she hadn't quite mastered the catching part yet) she would start digging and searching whenever I said "find mice" and she actually caught two. When I would ask her, "who's out there" she would sprint for the front door like a Tasmanian devil. If I said "get em!" she would growl and bark ferociously (all 7 lbs of her) She never chewed up anything of mine EVER, just her rawhide sticks. If I left my plate of food on the floor or couch to go answer the phone, she wouldn't even think of going near it (I never even scolded her about it before) When I was asleep and she was on my legs under the covers of course, if she heard someone come near us, like my mom did to come give me a kiss (she still does that even though I am 24..lol) Angel would come flying out from under there to launch at my mom's face and bumb her with her nose...it was sooooo funny. She never liked anybody else to get my affection, but she was never mean about it. She would just do the nose bump thing and make funny noises.
When I would take her into stores or movies or restaurants (in her tote bag) she never made a peep, as long as she was with me she was happy.
I could go on and on...
I am working on a web page for all of them right now....when I'm done I will post it http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Thanks Shay...and yes it was EXTREMELY frustrating being all the way in Ohio, and there was nothing I could do to look for Rusty or make that #%$@!! EX of mine go look for him. I screamed at him every time I called. It was horrible.
Well...here is the link I promised http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif my babies (http://angelkissed7.homestead.com/mydachsies.html)

Shay....Mia kinda looks like she is big in those pictures but she is only 2 1/2 pounds and quite petite. I had the computer cam VERY CLOSE UP, lol. How big is your Ginger?

On May 4th, she weighed 2 lbs. she was born on the 8,9, or 10th of march, still waiting to be told the exact date. She may weigh 4 pounds now, and is very petite. Her pic, along with Jasmine, our 3 yr old doxie are in the brag book under Jasmine and Ginger pics. I'll post new ones tomorrow, but she is the smallest mini i have ever seen!!!
