Help!! We have a 2 year old Dachsie. His name is Shadow. Shadow has regressed on his housebreaking. He will pee on the carpet even after we take him out. He has also been "marking his territory" quite a bit lately as well. Can anyone help me with answers as to why he is going backwards? He was doing so well! We have been told if we neuter Shadow, it will take care of the "marking" --- will it also help with the peeing? We have offered him treats and much praise, but he is still peeing on the carpets. HELP --- PLEASE. Thanks<IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm36.gif" border=0>

I have not had a male dachsie, but from everything I've read, neutering will help with peeing. If you're not a breeder, there's no reason not to neuter him, and several excellent reasons to do so.

I have had a male doxie and they can be stubborn. I would check with the vet and make sure he is not ill, even a minor illness can cause potty problems. Also, remember that they have long memories...have you made him mad? Has his routine changed? These guys can be so sensitive sometimes that even what seems meaningless to us, is very important to them Good luck!
