We're headed out for our second camping trip with our three puppers. There are basically short training trips to get them used to travel and seeing strangers. We live in the country so strangers are still, well, strange to them. Our first trip went pretty well, we got them used to pottying while on the leash and taking them for walks to burn off energy. We used a water bottle to quench excessive barking, Poor Ozzy had a wet head for a while. If anyone has further tips on camping we're all ears! We camp in a travel trailer.

Oh those lucky doxies get to go camping. I am sure they will adapt to it very nicely. My doxies are a bit spoiled I usually take them places I can have them off lead. Good luck and I hope you all enjoy your selfs. :crsfnger:
I have gotten lazy in my old age. I sleep with a mattress in the back of my van. The dogs still love going but I haven't gone all summer, to hot!

I use a travel trailer when we go to Field trials and other events. I usually bring a baby gate that I can put in front of the door so that if some one comes to the door and I open it they don't tumble out. In my trailer I open the baby gate wide and just slide it in front of the door. There is a chair next to the door that helps keep the gate in place. An Ex pen is also a good investment. I wouldn't leave them in one unattended at a camp grounds but if you're sitting outside it allows them to be out there with you without having them on a leash all the time.

We'll be at the South Bend KOA near Granger. We have a portable pen we keep for the dogs so they can be outside but not on a leash. We go for lots of walks when we are there, however Bubba likes to turn a walk into a carry after a while. :)

No advice, just have fun, and take pictures.
Guess I don't have much advice, other then have fun! It should be a good opportunity for socialization with other dogs, kids, etc. We have a 5th wheel and go camping frequently. Sadie probably has more comfortable sleeping arrangements then the campers in tents :D I always tell her something is wrong with this picture:D

For you campers out there, this is the most awesome place to take your puppers. It's a campground built especially for dogs www.4pawskingdom.com.

We got back yesterday. Peanut and Bubba were great, none of the nervousness and potty problems like last time. Ozzy is still wanting to bark and run up to each dog. Pulls at his harness like a mule. There was another couple with a wirehair about Ozzy size. Had the same disposition too, wanted to bark and every dog. Now I'm wondering, are we gonna need ear plugs at the Bavarian Dachsie Fest? Seems a lot of dachshunds and their desire to bark is gonna be really loud.
