When we celebrated Buck & his litter brother Topo's first bithday - we just bought a regular cake so the humans could have cake too.
We all had cake and ice cream - including the puppers. Once a year - they get to have a regular birthday party. :) They LOVED it!!

Here is a recipe for cupcakes. I don't see why you couldn't make a cake instead.
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cooking oil
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg
Mix the dry and wet ingredients separately, and combine quickly.
It makes like a pastry batter, so you need to fill up the muffin tins with about 2 1/2 tablespoons of the batter.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
Frosting:
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup sour cream
Mix together and frost the cupcakes when they have cooled.

This looks yummy--even for us humans! :)

You HAVE to check out this site - tailwagging.com. I am having a bday party for Dale on the 18th (his FIRST bday is the 11th) and they have the cutest decorations and cake ideas. But I think I am just going to get a regular cake bc the party will be mostly humans. :banana02:

I made a similar cake for Bobbie Bella's birthday recently. My recipe called for 1/4 cup of peanut butter & the frosting was different...For the frosting, I used low-fat cottage cheese (blend with the food processor or mixer) and carrot sticks for the "candles." I made individual cupcakes for the dachsies and they all loved it!

I took the lazy way out and bought corn muffin mix and frosted them with peanut butter for a couple of Otis's birthday. Another year, I made a mini meatloaf in the muffin pan just for Otis. Just don't put the candle in unless it's cooled, lol! I am sure others have better ideas, but it worked for him!
