Tonight I got my first bona fide DRNA rescue dog, an owner surrender. Angel is one BEAUTIFUL little girl--she has gorgeous conformation and is healthy as a horse, despite the fact that she has not been to a vet since she was purchased, at a pet shop, which means she was born in a you-know-what <IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm4.gif" border=0>. Her owner could not afford to keep her and, being a single mother with no child support, didn't have any time to devote to her, so she gave her up to us. I'm grateful that she took that route, instead of selling her.
Angel is a 14-pound smoothie, with a beautiful head, big brown eyes (BOY! Can she do the L@@K!!!), and a tail that never stops wagging. The pet store had listed her color as "wild boar." Yeah, right. She's that kind of golden biscuit color--probably has some wirehair in her shady past. She's very affectionate and playful and she is not afraid of ANYthing! In the vet's waiting room, she visited with everyone, and even in the examining room, she was having a wonderful time...until the first shot. She let out SUCH a squeal! Poor thing--she hasn't had any vaccines. She isn't spayed either. But the vet popped a little cookie in her mouth and she quieted right down. Until she had finished the cookie, at which time she looked around for more food, then started whimpering again. So she got another cookie... This is a smart little dog!! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif
I brought her home and she took over immediately. There she was, up on the sofa, chewing away on her new bone. But alas, Nadine, who is fostering her, came to pick her up all too soon. Nadine brought Arnold with her, to introduce him since they're going to be roommates for a while, and Angel growled and snarled. Arnold ran and hid. After a few minutes, they were curled up next to each other on the sofa, and Angel was fast asleep. A big day for the little girl.
We introduced her to Peaches and Farfel outside. She and Peaches seemed to really like each other. At last, Peaches has a gal pal!
She's going to be adopted so fast! It's nice to have a DRNA dog who hasn't been abused and isn't fighting for her life.
