That's terrible. :candle:
Not sure I agree with letting Gretel hunt around like that with a known gator in the area. We have coyotes and feral dogs in our area. The dachshunds are never out of site when the are running free, we follow them around the yard like wardens.

Another perfect example of a dog dying because of human ignorance. If they'd been with the dog, watching it (knowing there were gators in the area), that poor dachsie would still be alive!

thats so sad I treat my dogs like babies we don't have coyotes or gators or bears in our area and I still fallow them around and watch like a hawk you never know what sicko will come take them no matter where you live......I agree that this was a sad case of human ignorance!

My pups are my kids and I watch them the same way. If he knew he had an alligator in the pond why would you let a dog near it.

I really don't get it as I continue to read it over and over is the alligator had been living there for 4 years so not only do you let your dog run loose but you have a 9 year old too! And why would you want to keep it around just because it keeps off snakes you can survive a snake bite but an alligator? Wow Im glad I live where I do!!! I would be all to worried I already am for you flordia people, keep them puppers safe!

Lighting a :candle: for poor little Gretel.

I have nothing but contempt for the owner who waited 4 years to have that gator removed!! He has a child too & should be thankful that the child is still safe. His excuse is that 'usually' small gators don't attack pets.:pullhair:

I wouldn't trust my little men to beat the odds on what a gator will or will not do!!

So big deal - he doesn't feed the gator.. Well - too bad Gretel had to be the gator's choice of dinner. Gretel should have been leashed and not anywhere near where the gator was. What a sad loss of a little dachsie's life!:sob:

Poor little Gretel. :candle: to light her journey to the bridge.

Living in Florida we always have to be aware of things like gators, our numerous poisonous snakes and other creepy crawly critters. They are everywhere, they have been known to climb into swimming pools and get into houses. I always worry about Sophie and am very careful around any bodies of water. You have to watch yourself around here.

I couldn't have said it better. Duh... we know that gator's been in our pond for about 4 years.... duh.

:candle: Run free and happy with all the doxies over the Rainbow Bridge, sweet Gretel.

I don't even know what to say to such sickening story I think I ever read. Now I am going to have nightmares of my babies bobing up and down from an gators mouth. I just can't find the words to say anything.......poor baby...how sad! :candle:

I know I'm being repetitious here, but I think it needs saying again - SUCH STUPIDITY!!! Another person who doesn't deserve a dachsie - and who pays for it?! :pullhair: :pullhair: :pullhair: Why do our furkids always have to suffer over humans' ignorance????? Will this never end???:pullhair: :pullhair: :pullhair: (Yes, I know - it's only a dog.)
