Hi. This is Maretta from Richmond, VA. New to this site. I have 2 red, smooth dauchusands. Pickle's is 6 yrs old and Dasher is 11 yrs old. Dasher is our newest addition, we were lucky enough to find him thanks to the DRNA. And a wonderful foster mother, Mandy, who took great care of him and gave him lots of love during the transition. Dasher has a great home and is the best of friends with Pickles. I'd like to add, I encourage people to consider adopting senior pets. They are such sweetheart and have so much to offer. Okay, it's time for their walk. They have 'me' very well trained. Please let me know of any pet events in the area,(mid, eastern coast). The kids (my 2 dogs) love to get out and met other pets and pet lovers.

Hi Maretta!!!
I was so hoping you would become a member. I am looking forward to hearing updates about Dasher. How is the little guy doing? Does he still lick everything to death?
Again, welcome to the board....I think you will find a lot of useful information.

Hi Maretta,
A big special welcome to the board. Rescue parents and especially those who take on a senior rescue are near to many of us here. You will find a large number of the users here have been involved with rescue in one way or another. A lot of us are parents to second chance kids, many are active supporters of rescue, still others take more active roles as foster homes, home inspectors, transporters, and area coordinators. We look forward to hearing your stories.
As far as activities I'm a little too far away. Not too many board members near me (I'm in Fort Collins, CO). I do announce the Colorado Dachshund Rescue Weenie Roast which is generally in May or June when ever I find out the details. In 1999 it had over 150 deckhands and their people attending. Who knows perhaps some year some one from the board might decide to take a Colorado vacation and drop in.
Best wishes,
Tom and the boys (Frank and Tanner)

Welcome to the board!
I have a miniature smooth Dachshund named Timber The Digger. We compete in junior showmanship. Our next show is May 5. See some Timber pics in the Brag Book.
