Hello All,
My name is Shannon and I live in Texarkana,Texas with my husband our 3 human kids and our 5 furkids..we have 2 mini dachshunds.Hercules is our first.Hes a black/tan smooth.Hubby got him for me because the english setter puppy he had got me was born with a bleeding ulser. After we had her 2 weeks we found this out and had to have her put to sleep..Thats how we got him. Then I fell in love with the breed and hubby got me Madison our 1 year old red smooth mini. Then we got Katie our 5month old Fila Brasileiro..After all of them I felt I owed hubby his own puppy and got him an american cocker spaniel, whom we named Dopey. After having him 3 weeks hubby signed up for an email group about cockers and found out about a cocker in a shelter in California that was going to be put to sleep. We filled out an adoption application on him and the day we were approved his name was put in the little black box to be put down that afternoon. His name is Monkey. Then last weekened we rescued two 4 year old mini black/tan females from a puppymill whom we are trying to find homes for..Thats our story.I look forward to meeting everyone!!!

Welcome again Shannon and Family!

I am owned by a blk/tan mini that grew up to be a tweenie. He's a riot named Wotan. For such a little package he is immensely SPOILED and runs the roost around here. He's the indoor doggie while my other two big girls live in doghouses to guard the property.Bark,bark,bark...

We (my hub and I) live on 7 acres in the foothills near a college town in mid-WA state. I have a mini farm here and it's great for the the dogs, but bad for the hens. The dogs decided to help themselves to some dinner this spring /ubb/smilies/uh-oh.gif

I've been writing to most of these folks here for almost a yr and really enjoy the tails those dachsies weave /ubb/smilies/bounce.gif

Big smiles, Sonja and Wotan

Hi Shannon! Welcome!! Welcome!!

I'm Sandi and I have 2 dachsies. Dolly and MADISON (Maddie). Dolly is a red/brindle tweener (18 lbs) smoothie who is 3 years old. Maddie is a black and tan mini weighing in at 8 lbs. She is a smoothie. We've had her for about 3 months. She and Dolly really LOVE each other and are at this moment seeing who can lengthen each others ears the longest. Maddie really holds her own considering the weight difference. And Dolly, to her credit, doesn't give her a thrashing everytime but lets Wee Maddie win sometimes. Love having two.

Welcome Shannon et al

I am Mark and our kids are 2 Mini WH Dachsies (Duck Butter & Masse) and a Catahoula (Top Spin). We are in Southeast Michigan, but not really near Detroit. My wife Char has family in Houston, Dallas and Texarkana (TX side).

Sounds like you're probably kept pretty busy with kids and "kids". /ubb/smilies/silly.gif

I look forward to hearing more about your pooches as you join in the fun on the board.

Welcome Shannon and family! I'm from Leesburg, Georgia...a very small town in SW Georgia. I have 1 mini dachsie black/tan names Josephine. I call her my dog in a dachshund suit because she has none of the dachsie traits most dachsies have. I also have 2 pekepoo mixes and a bird dog mix. All 4 are babies we rescued from bad situations. I lost my red dachsie Christmas Eve after surgery to repair a ruptured disk. You can see a picture of her on the Misc. page. I look forward to hearing about your furkids! This is a great board!

Hi Shannon,

I'm a system administrator for a small research group at Colorado State in Fort Collins, CO. I have one fur kid a standard red with black highlights male named Frank. Frank is about eight months old and is currently thirteen pounds. I got Frank from the local humane society after loosing my little girl Aggie a mini longhair puppy mill rescue to complications following back surgery. Aggie was not quite four hen I lost her but at least I was able to give her two years of freedom in a loving home. I grew up with short hair tweenies. Welcome to the board and we hope to hear a lot from you.

Shannon, Mickey and I would like to welcome you to the board. Mickey is my chocolate/tan smooth mini. He just turned 2 a few months back, and is our only child so far. He's a real stinker, but is the love of our lives. Can't wait to hear tales of your furkids!

Hi!

I'm Sue, the token Canadian. I have two tweenie male dapples, Frankie and Oscar. They are 1yr 8 months old and are half-brothers (same dad, born 1 week apart). They are a handful. Oscar is the dominant of the two but is much smaller and stupider than Frankie. He's going through another marking phaze right now - he knows it's wrong but still does it. I think he's trying to get attention from 'dad' but chooses to pee on my stuff (maybe because my stuff is the stuff lying around). Grrr. I thought we'd passed the house training stage for good.

Frankie is the brains of the two and is the one that you always have to keep an eye on. If it is too quiet, you know he's up to something.

Glad to have you here!

I have an idea for you Shannon... How about posting your rescues at this link http://www.drwp.net/needhome.html to try to find the little munchkins homes? I think it's a well traveled site and you can even post pictures of them.

Bless your heart for helping them!! /ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif And...Welcome to the Board!!

I'm Heidi and I live in Maine with my husband, our 2 teenagers, 2 grouchy old house cats and 2 dachsies. Penny is a 16 month old red sable mini and Maggie is an 8 month old black and tan. We THOUGHT she was going to be a mini, but she keeps growing and growing and growing... /ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif

Hi, Shannon and Kimberly, and welcome to you and all of yours! I'm Pamela, owned by two very large standard smooths--Farfel and Miss Peaches Marie.

Shannon, at the rate you and your hubby are going, it looks as if you will have 146.74 dogs in your home within five years!!! /ubb/smilies/eek.gif What is the something-or-other fila? Did I get anywhere close to the actual name? Is it an exotic breed?
