Will anyone in the area be going?? There is also a "Hallo-weiner" picnic on Sunday following the shows.
You can get more info about the shows at the NMDC Website. I don't think there will be half as many dachsies as there are at "most" Mini Nationals, esp the ones centrally located. In Columbus, IN in 2004 there were 292 Miniatures entered in the shows.
Anyway, IF anyone is interested in going......

Hi, I was at the nmdc and I think we shared a table with you and my mini breeder Marcella at the mexican dinner. I do hope you are the same person. I have much time to be on the computer I went to another specaility in arizona the weekend afer san diego shows and go to another big cluster next weekend. I did put a 5 point major on my standard pup even beat a specail to get bos at dca region 2 specaility so I am very exicted about that. Now if I could only get a major on my mini.
The san diego club is great and very friendly bunch. Had a great time, my dogs do do anything great at the shows but it was still a very interesting and fun weekend with lots of great dogs. I did see some different grooming on the wirehairs than I seen at other shows and was wondering if any one esle there noticed that some where groomed more like terriers on legs and head.

You will notice a difference around the country <G> and you will notice a difference based on amount of coat a dog can/will carry. I like full legs and beard and eyebrows but my current dogs have such a harsh coat I can't do what I used to do with those. The better the coat, usually the less furnishings and you don't have as much coat to *work* with.
It is also a personal preference.
It is also a way of grooming out imperfections - real or imagined - IF you have coat to work with again. Mine normally carry more body coat than many others but I like to be able to feel texture in length. Again, personal preference. Other people like their wires to be nearly as slick as smooths - sometimes that, too, is a way of *grooming out imperfection* or it can be personal preference.
I DON'T appreciate the ones that have correct schnauzer head grooming, however, nor schnauzer skirts....and I've even seen them with flags on their tails. That to me was the epitome of gruesome. Personal preference.
