For those of you who have thought about adopting a rescue dog into your home now may be a good time to re think and start looking. It appears dachshunds are falling out of the sky into our rescue friends open arms. I know I posted yesterday that Colorado Dachshund Rescue has received over 50 new dogs since the first of the year. That is more than one dachshund per day and CDR only serves (also generally only adopts out to) Colorado and southern Wyoming. In a reply to my post yesterday someone (and forgive me I can't remember who) stated many other areas have also been swamped with new turn animals.

I'm not trying to tell you to just rush out and get a rescue dog. Like any addition to a family these decisions should be well thought out but if you have been seriously considering a rescue now may be an especially good time to sit down and fill out that adoption form so you can get the ball rolling. I know many rescue groups require you fill out an adoption form before they will discuss specific dogs with you. Filling out the form doesn't mean you have to take a dog it's just a way for the rescue people to get to know a little more about you.

Best wishes,

Tom and the boys (Frank and Tanner)

Tom is right! It is a GREAT time to adopt! We are swamped with doxies! In FL alone I have more than 20 in foster and that number never seems to go down. As soon as I place two, I get three more into foster.

Even if you cannot adopt, please consider fostering a doxie in need. I am so thankful for my foster families here in FL, but with so many doxies coming in, I need more as do our other reps around the country!!

Open your heart and home if you can!
