I've been thinking about becoming a foster parent. Ofcourse I would need my hubbys involvement and I have mentioned it but have not talked about it with him seriously yet.
Anyway, we both work full time and I'm wondering if that would dis-qualify us?

I'm single and work full time but I was on a list with my local rescue coordinator to do short term (just a few days at a time) fostering before my house filled up with my second boy. I didn't think I was ready for long term fostering but there are times when a home is needed for just a couple of days while other arrangements are being made. I think the individual coordinator in your area would be the one to make the final decision.

Good luck,

It certainly shouldn't disqualify you, unless you're gone for an unusually long time every day. I do recommend using a roomy crate, however, at least until the foster dog adapts to your home. Ingenuity and willingness to deal with messes and problem behavior are more important than having "stay-at-home" parents. A word of warning, however: we've fostered two dogs so far, and ended up keeping both of them, even though we didn't intend to.

As a member of a rescue organization, I would not say that working full time necessarily disqualifies you. If you said you were gone over 9 hours a day, sometimes more, had no one to come by during the day to walk the dog and planned on leaving him outside, then their might be an issue. I personally do not disqualify applicants who work an average 8 hour day for that reason alone. There would have to be something else.
