OK, the secret is finally out. Today we rescued Buddy, a red mini dachshund from Kittery, Maine.
Buddy lived with an elderly woman and was not given enough rules & discipline. Consequently, he bit her on the face! Well, she was understandably afraid of him now, so she had to give him up. I was contacted last week about him and I spoke to the owner's daughter. We arranged a meeting and I took Buddy into our family.
They did not want to put him down, but they did not have any other option. SO, I am happy that I can save another doxie life!
This little guy is really amusing! He is food agressive, which is a problem. Kebo doesn't like him, but Kebo HATES change, so they will argue for a short while. Buddy holds his own against the rest of the Weinerdogs.
I felt really bad about taking him from the daughter, who was in tears as I drove away. But his life is spared, and in the end that is all that really matters. Now for some pictures of Buddy!

Buddy is just darling. He doesn't look to be more than a 1 or so old.
I hope in a few short weeks every one will be getting along and loving
their new addition to the family! :hug2:

He looks like a cutie. Glad to see he is not overweight!
For Kebo, I don't know if you like Bach Flower Essences, but Beech could help:

"BEECH
This remedy is for intolerance; physical as well as mental and emotional. So, the dog that suffers allergies to foods or environmental allergens such as pollens; or is intolerant of weather conditions such as heat or cold, as well as the dog that is intolerant of change. Always wants everything kept just the same; doesn’t like changes of food, toys, or routine. Won’t accept another animal (or human) joining the household. Oversensitive to sounds and touch; irritable behaviour, always complaining. Snappy and irritable. Dogs that are stiff and can’t relax and that develop arthritis or other joint disorders. The dog that is fussy about food, eating something one day but refusing it the next, having its person cooking up gourmet meals which it then refuses. The virtue of Beech is sympathy and tolerance."

:thanx: :thanx: :thanx: for saving another life that obviously would have been needlessly destroyed, if not for you! He is a very nice-looking boy (and yes, not overweight!!) and I'm sure he'll eventually fit nicely into your family, after an adjustment period. Again, :thanx:  for saving that little furkid!

Good Evening Paul: How are you and the Mrs.? - Sounds like things are going wonderfully at your house. I just love it that you have saved yet another long dog; you're almost always there when one is really desperate. I'm so glad you adopted him; we adopted one like that last year from Oregon; I sure wasn't in the market for a 9 month old aggressive pup, but it really sounded like the next stop for him was going to be the local shelter. He had made a wonderful adjustment with our dogs, but it has been at a steady (but rather slow) pace. He is food aggressive, toy aggressive & owner aggressive: His attitude on life is: It's mine, it's ALL mine! LOL So glad to see you have once again opened up your hearts and your home to another "unfortunate" that may very well not be here if not for you and your generous offer. Please keep us posted; he really is a beautiful little guy. GAY & The Gang in California

After day 1, I don't really see any issues with Buddy. He is food agressive, but he is being weaned off of his old food so he will be eating alone for a few weeks.
He is such a funny little guy! He can REALLY jump, which is not really a good thing. He loves attention and he has fit in perfectly with the gang. Kebo still isn't real happy withhim, but they are tolerating each other.

I felt really bad about taking him from the daughter, who was in tears as I drove away. But his life is spared, and in the end that is all that really matters.
I'm sure that, despite her tears, the daughter also knows that this is best for Buddy, and bless you for taking him in!
If the daughter would feel safe (was she frightened or just the mother), and it wouldn't upset Buddy, maybe she could come and visit him after he is well settled with you.
