The plans were just put up yesterday or today. The conformation and junior events are being held in Oshkosh, WI, hosted by the Badger Dachshund Club. The BDC's junior show is on a Tuesday and DCA's junior show is on a Friday, so I WON'T be able to go, because I KNOW my parents won't let me get out of school for a dog show, even if it is the nationals. I'd be lucky enough if my parents would even let me off for Westminster! Plus, you can order videos of the 2000 and 2001 shows and they finally have the 2001 pics up, but I couldn't access them.

Tell your parents that going to the Nationals is every bit as educational as a day in school. Tell your teachers it is a field trip! Write a paper on dog shows when you get back.

My parents don't much like dog shows. They think a show dog is not a "pet", but all dogs are.
I'll ask them again next year when I get the premium list, since the supt. is Roy Jones (Sleeper) Dog Shows, and I always get the RJDS Premiums in the mail.

Tiff, if I remember correctly you are about 12 or 13. Tell your parents to be glad you are interested in dogs and dog shows instead of boys. It might make them appreciate dog shows more!!

Some good news about the Nationals.
I asked my dad last night if I could go, and he said if I have a couple of first place wins, he will let me out of school and take me to the nationals. I don't know how much a couple is, but I imagine if by the nationals I am in the open senior class I'll enter. I'm only in novice junior now, but by the time the nationals are here, I will have turned 14 (April 11). So I'm going to work REALLY hard to get 3 wins!
My dad also said he would take me to Westminster if I ever qualified.
My mom is not too thrilled about me missing school just for dog shows, but my dad knows it is important to me.

I don't think there are any 4-H groups near me, or at least I haven't heard of them. For my next 2 shows, there are 10 and 12 entered, so I doubt I'll get some 1sts there. Tomorrow I have a show, and will get some help from a former junior handler who showed a Dachshund when she was in novice junior. She got her 3 wins with only 5 shows! Tomorrow will by me 5th show and no wins yet! I have been training everyday, so hopefully he will do well. I have trained him to "look" on command, which he listens to most of the time, so he will keep his attention on me.
Last year at the Greater Racine KC shows (the one I have tomorrow), there have been very small entries (maybe 2 or 3 novice jrs), yet this year it skyrocketed to 10! But last year, not everyone showed up, that is why there were only 2 or 3.
