How often should I bathe Basil? Do I just wait until his is really dirty (and smelly! :)), or should I just do it once a week? Every other week? I don't want to overbathe him, but I do want to make sure that he stays clean and neat!

Thanks!

I can't even remember the last time I gave Beau a bath! I make sure to clean his ears and all that good stuff about once a month, but we feed raw and always have a shiney, good smelling coat. Before we fed raw, we probably gave him a bath once a month or once every other month depending on when we felt he needed it. You don't want to dry out their skin too much.

My two have anal gland issues that need tending monthly, so we do the "full meal deal" about once a month. That being said, if there's no need (no bad smells, no serious dirt), I wouldn't do it until it was really needed. Too often will dry out the skin.

You'll get many different responses on this one. Everyone has different preferences. I bathe Mocha like once a month, but if she rolls in something really smelly then I bathe her right then and there. I also bathe her after vet visits if I have to do a drop off appointment. And she gets a bath after anal gland expression.

I agree that you will get a lot of different preferences, but I would say not more then once a month, except in emergencies (skunk, rolled in poop...)

Usually I bathe Belle about once a month when its warmer and she's outside more. During the winter I usually bathe her once so I don't have to worry about her getting dry sky.

Everything is null and void if she finds an extra stinky/dirty place to roll in, tho!

I bathe the guys every 2 to 4 weeks..... It depends, Sometimes they get the itchies...... Sometimes they find some really gross stuff to roll in then it's :bath: time. During the summer, I have a kiddy pool I fill up and they love a bath in that....

I try not to bathe Dragon too much, he gets dandruff if I do. I usually know its about time when he makes ME itch ( I am allergic to dogs) If I pick him up and I get hives, he gets a bath. Thats usually every month and half- two months. I do wipe him down with doggy wipes and baby wipes a lot though, and that keeps him smelling nice inbetween.
