wierd er um grooming question

I have a wierd question. Before bedtime I wipe Mocha down with a baby wipe especially if she spent a lot of time outdoors. But is it wierd that I wipe her tussy?? I got into that habit when we were having anal gland issue but I always continued to wipe her after the problem ceased out of habit. Does anyone else do this? My family thinks I'm nuts for doing this.

I think it is perfectly normal! :Sun2: I wipe my girls hineys :D . I started when they became sick and needed a little assistance back there. I don't do it everytime they go but if things were a bit loose I make sure everyone is clean before jumping on the couch or climbing in bed. Some days I wipe through the day others just before bed. :Sun2:

LOL no... if you think that is bad you should see our routine. :dizzy: They pee before bed, then wipe all their feet, hiney, and a quick dab to the er um... other area. They sleep in my bed, under the sheets. And the last thing I want is a drop or two of urine every day getting on my bedspread or sheets, or having foul smelling feet if they stepped in the pee on a puppy pad. I'm very particular about being clean in my bed. :blush: But they know the routine, they pee, step over to me, let me wipe them, and then one by one they run to the bedroom :) So no, you're not weird :D

Buffy knows that she gets her feet wiped before coming in the house its muddy out and I've been known to wipe hineys as well, especially when Tucker was ill. I keep baby wipes next to where I sit on the sofa (I love the new cucumber scented ones huggies has) and use them for kids and pups.

Dragon likes to potty on the cement, and the pee gets on his little feet usually. So I keep baby wipes by the door to clean him off before setting him down on the carpet, and I also wipe his little wee since its always wet after he pees, I figure why not? People wipe, why not dogs, especially if I'm wiping his feet anyways.

Yup - there's a routine for Tucker, too. When coming in from outside, it's "feet, then treat". And, while I'm at it, I always wipe off his wee and check to make sure that nothing is attached to the hiney area (especially with the long haired guys).

Skyler is trained now and he wipes his feet on the doormat before coming inside, though he still needs help with the front paws. I ALWAYS wipe his bum and I reckon if I had a girl I'd wipe her girlybits too. As it stands I usually have to wipe Sky's tummy and the backs of his front legs. He sort of just stands there and peepee's so sometimes it splatters his tummy and front legs.

Wow I thought I was odd for wiping Zachs feet after he comes from outside because I was tired of all the dirt on my bed at night. Its nice to see other dog people doing the same thing you're doing. I wipe his tussy if he has anal gland leakage, but never thought about wiping any other parts... just feet and a good ol wipe down of hes smelly and dont have time for a bath at the moment. My parents think Im nuts...but only well. I do alot of things for him that they think is nuts. Only because I live with them right now they know all my special things I do for Zach.

Boy ! I must be in the minority I don't wipe down Henry or Miss Molly . I never really saw a need to . If they do get dirty then in the tub they go .

We do this too! We take 2 minutes to wipe her down (doggy wipes from Target are 80 ct for $5) and have her nice & clean after walks & potty breaks.

If it's anal glands time, I use a wipe or two for that purpose too...Depending on how bad it is! :faint:
