We have quite a bit of tile in our house downstairs...and I cannot stand to hear Ally's nails click, click, click on the tile! :pullhair: I trim them as soon as I start to hear it. Sometimes that is every couple of weeks. Am I the only one who does this?! :dunno:

I don't mind the sound of the nails clicking. At least I know when they are running through the house and I should be careful.

The noise never bothered me with Missi and we have almost always been in a house with hardwood, laminate or tile or some combo of the three. But we kept her nails trimmed most of the time and didn't notice it too much.

As long as it's just a "tap tap tap" and not a "clicky clicky clicky" I know their nails aren't too long. But it can get a person's nerves still!

Only time it bothers me is the middle of the night. I'm a light sleeper so it wakes me up. Usually if one of them are up in the middle of the night....someone needs to go potty so I guess it's a good thing that I hear those little toenails click.:D

Clicking nails never bothers me, but Nadra has a habit with her nails that makes me want to start screaming and tearing out my hair sometimes!
Miss Nadra decides sometimes to wake us up around 3 or 4 am by raking her nails on things.... the bedroom door, a mirror, the closet door, etc... MAN IT MAKES ME NUTS! Does anyone else have a cat that this?

I have heard a few customers say that they have hardwood flooring and they can't stand the noise. So I show them different varieties of booties.
And yes, on the cat nails...it has pulled up a lot of fibers from the carpet. :cussing:  :censored:

I sort of like that tiny tap, tap, tap, but know when it gets noisier it's time to dremel those nails down. I also use the noise as a judge to what feet need more trimming.

If nails are allowed to become too long for too extended a period, they start to *flatten* the feet ie the pads start spreading out. The upright toes and dogs walking on the flat of their pads is a cushioning for the entire body. When a foot goes flat extend that up the back of the leg and it puts pressure on the pasterns, etc.
So, I would recommend keeping them as short as possible - which sometimes means you WILL still hear some clicking for some dogs.

Jackson gets his nails "quicked". The vet offers this service when he's getting his teeth cleaned. The great thing is it only has to be done as often as his teeth got done, or every 6 months or so.
I have always been afraid to cut Jackson's nails since he was puppy and I went to short one time. I cut the quick, he started bleeding, and I felt so guilty that I couldn't bring myself to do it again!

So Cindi....does that mean I could get Ally's toe nails too short then?
