Nov. 2004 Sunny was found by a truckdriver friend of mine in a Covington LA lumber mill. We dont know if he was dumped or if he had escaped from someone but the owner of the mill was going to shoot him becouse no one could catch him. Mr. Paul spent 3 days catching him and brought him him to his wife. Mrs.Paul didnt want him,She said he didnt want another dog. I saw him there and they asked if I would want him.

Sunnty, the day I met him.

After a week of trying to talk to my dad about me wanting him he finally said yes. I had my dog. He didnt know what a leash was and he didnt have any manners.

August 2005 came and katrina hit. I left sunny with my folks after the storm becouse where I had to stay wouldnt allow him at 1st. My dad got mad when I didnt move back home and threatened Sunny if I didnt. I took him then to a friends where 3 weeks later he was stolen. Between the time I got him and katrina Sunny had learned his manners and was in training to be a service dog. When I placed an ad looking for him the people paniced and turned him loose. I guess this becouse the woman who returned him to me could not have been the one to steal him. I had to prove to her that he was mine before she would return him.
After this I talked to my landlord and proved to her Sunny wouldnt cause a problem in the apartment and she allowed him. Hes not been away from me since and I have no plans of him ever being so. Hes my joy and my angel.

 and :welcome: ! I agree - what a story! I'd certainly have Sunny microchipped to keep him as safe as possible, so if he gets away or gets stolen or whatever, you can definitely identify him as yours! Glad you joined us - Sunny is a very pretty pupper! Sounds like you two were meant to be together! :hearts: :hug2:

Great pics; I love the ears! How big is he? Also what tasks is he trained to do as a service dog?

Sunny is microchipped.. Id be worried of someone stealing him again, theres no worry of him running away, since I got him back hes a mamas boy and refuses to let me out of his sight.

As for his servicedog training, we are getting all his basics down in his manners and obediance. The hard part is for what he does he does natrually, knows when Im upset or depressed and he demands my attention to distract me from whats causing the problem. later on he will be taught to fetch apill bottle, hes too small to fetch water, but he also knows "wheres dad?" and will look for my fiance. At this stage in the game hes still considered an Emotional Support dog, but with training her will be a full service dog.

It it awesome that he is so smart and learning all these new things. He was almost killed and now he is giving you so much. He must have never lost the will to love and trust people. I have a 5 year old long haired dachshund (my avatar) who works at home; he can retrieve things I drop and alert me to the oven/microwave timer and of course the doorbell. He is a barker though so not really suitable for working in public but he certainly is great at home. We are constantly working on the barking at the doorbell and things he sees/hears outside but he just can't seem to quit! He does know he is to touch for the timers and then lead nme to the sound and is very reliable at that.
