I don't get Bailey. He gets all excited when he knows he's gonna go in my truck for a ride. Then after 5 minutes, he starts whining that he wants to get out. I keep him in the cargo area of my SUV.

Don't take this wrong, but I don't think it's the safest thing for your dog to be in the back of your SUV. In any accident, even the simplest fender bender, he becomes a missile; a lethal weapon flying through the air. Not only would he most likely not survive a crash, but he could seriously injure any occupants of your vehicle. All pets should be properly restrained, just as all humans should be, when in any vehicle.

Maybe he doesn't like being in the back by himself. We have a car seat that we use with a harness that attaches to the seatbelt. Buddy rides in with the rest of the family, properly restrained just as we are.

It is the same for Isabel. She has a car seat and is restrained with her own seatbelt.

I think Bailey wants to be with you.

One more vote for a car seat and harness. They love to look out the window, and I am a more focused driver knowing that they are secured.

Yep mine don't go anywhere in the car if they aren't harnessed into their carseats.

Smudge has a booster seat that is strapped in the car by two straps and the seat belt. It is also high enough for him to see out the window.

So far he hates it...but I'm thinking a few trips around the block might solve that.

There are a lot of great car seats out there for dogs. Definitely worth looking into.

Good Luck.

Nice sites that you can look at! I'm sure there are other places too!:hearts:

The girls ride in the backseat in their travel crate, which I seatbelt in. I had to make a fast stop today, and they slid forward a bit....into the baby crib bumper that is around the inside of it. Smart mommy, lol. They didn't even blink an eye.

I would get Bailey a carseat, crate, something....so he can be in the car with you. Safer and happier. Especially in hot weather.
