We are taking our little guy to the beach for the first time this weekend. We have found a dog-friendly beach and reviewed their rules. Anything else we should know? I'm not sure if I need to bring anything special (besides the usual water, leash, etc), although I am planning on bringing a beach umbrella so he will have some shade.
I'm wondering if fleas are a problem? He's not on any preventative meds- should I look into that before we go?
TIA!

A camera!! Add that to the last of "must take to the beach"

Have you thought about a life jacket? They sell them at PetsMart. I'm going to get one before we go to the lake. Sammy loves water so I'm not going to be shocked if he jumps in!!

I don't know where you are located, but I would probably do a light bath with flea shampoo when we got home.

My guys inveriably find some nice dead fish or other "treat" to roll in, so after beach baths are needed in our house.

Other than that, I would say pack the "usual", extra towels and your camera, we will want pictures :Sun2:

I know when I've taken my two to the beach .I've always make sure I have extra towels , treats and an extra leash . One thing if your Doxie has a pink nose put some sun screen on him for protection . Remember have tons of fun !

We made the bug repellant and have noticed that we have had no knats, flies or mosquitos anywhere near us since starting to use it. And it smells good too! We very seldom turn up with fleas here but hopefully it works well with them too.
