Sadie is a 12 year old long haired and EXTREMELY OVERWEIGHT dachshund. Her companion is Spartacus, a 9 year old smooth haired dachshund. Spartacus is very scared and freaked out, so he has not left his crate much yet.
They are both from the Kennebec Valley Humane Society in Augusta, Maine. This is the same place that Auggie is from. Their owner passed away and they ended up in the pound. They are absolutely inseparable!

Oh Paul!! Bless your heart for taking them. These little seniors deserve to live the rest of their lives with some love and care.
What adorable little fur kids!! Sadie is a 12 year old long haired and EXTREMELY OVERWEIGHT dachshund - actually - she's just fluffy!! :D
Her companion is Spartacus, a 9 year old smooth haired dachshund. Spartacus is very scared and freaked out, so he has not left his crate much yet. Poor little Spartacus is wondering what the heck happened to him. How sad when these little ones who have been loved by someone who has to go away. He must be wondering what he did to have this happen to him.
Give them both a super big :hug2: and lots of puppy kisses :hearts: from me, Oscar and Buck.

Hey Paul,
Welcome to my world. I have been a member of doxaholics anonymous for years. Sad part is that it does not seem to help. Every time you turn around I am adopting a new kid, especial a special kid.
Bless you for caring.

:welcome3: Sadie and Spartacus!! Paul, the people on this site like yourself have made me wish I had the space to rescue some doxies myself! My 2 are enough for my landlord..he tolerates them!! sort of! My sister in laws parents adopted Spike last year after their 2 yorkies died and he is sooo good. It took a few days for him to warm up to..we put ourselves in their place- living a good life and then someone dies and our lives are uprooted..It happened to me last yr when my husband died and I had to move from townhouse to 1 br little apt! Give him a day or 2 and he will be taking over the house! And Sadie..we women are NEVER fat just fluffy!!
:congrats:

Sadie isn't overweight, she's just retaining water! And a couple of pork roasts :D
I'm sure in your care she will regain her girlish figure in no time. I'm sure her previous owner loved her but why do people kill their dogs with kindness...aka food?

Oh my, what little love bugs you have :hearts::hearts:they are just sooo sweet! I don't blame you for adopting them, if I live some place that would let me have more then 4, I'd be having a "bakers dozen" myself :D. God bless you and your lovely wife for taking them in and give them lots of love. Little Spartacus will come around, in that house, all he'll know is love!!!!!
I'm with Sadie...we're not fat, just fluffy!!!

I think they are both adorable and I am so glad you saved them. If I lived where there were no rules or laws about how many you can have, I would have lots of them also.
Now, how many can you handle so they all get the loving and attention they need, and how many can you afford? These are legitimate doxaholic questions and we welcome you to doxaholics.

for taking these two little ones and giving them a loving home. They certainly won't run out of companions to play with. If the previous owners were elderly that explains Sadie's weight, they probably couldn't get out to give them exercise.
God Bless you both for taking them in, you are loving people. I wish I could have that many, but just couldn't give them the time right now. Maybe in the future.
:welcome: Sadie and Spartacus

I think that is one addiction that needs no intervention or cure for. I am glad you are a doxieholic and that there are people like you and Michelle in the world. You are truly amazing.
I would say bless you for all that you do, but you are already blessed with all those doxies. I gasped when I saw your second post about Spartacus jumping on your lap. That made my heart skip a beat. He will be warming up to you all real soon and Sadie will look fantastic as a slimmer more healthy pup in no time. But I have to agree, women should never be called fat. If you must refer to her weight, call her fluffy or just big boned.
NO matter what, they are both beautiful and I welcome them to your family and ours.

Sadie, there's nothing wrong with being a full-figured gal! Some guys like a lady with curves!
And Spartacus, don't take this the wrong way, but many ladies like big wieners, too.
You're both adorable in my book!

I am also a self proclaimed Doxaholic and have had to face the fact that there is no cure and the only support groups out there are also filled with addicts who will only encourage us to adopt more.. LOL. My own diminishing bank account is my only sponsor and accountability partner.. When a dog comes in who needs a lot of Vet care I have to decided what I will do without that month and how long my daughter and I can stand to eat Mac & Cheese. I think this is however one of the few conditions in which we are respected for not seeking treatment.. LOL I have 3 here I really need to find home for but it's very hard. They are all so wonderful I share the difficulty in just saying no.

Oh how I belong to the DA group. I wish I could afford to have more doxies or even to foster. But I am so grateful that you are willing and able to do it. As a super size person I can only say that fluffy is a nice way to say she is a little bit overweight. But that just makes more to :hearts::hearts::hearts::hearts::hearts::hearts God Bless You for rescuing them both. :thanx::cheer::cheer::goodluck:

You know, just like we need to leave our wants and wishes for our children when we die, we really also ought to provide for our pets. I have really worried about what will happen to ours when my husband and I die since we are older (73 and 67). It's very possible we can outlive our babies, and I really want someone they know to take care of them. Heidi could go to one of our kids by herself, but the other two have to be together. It's a serious issue that people should really talk about and make arrangements for, but I wonder how many do. Just like a Will, taking care of these babies is extremely important.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for adopting these two! What a guy!!!!!! You're a GEM. I know how it is.....everytime I get involved in rescuing doxies....my neice says......"Aunt Lyn!".............in an exasperated voice!
