To pull or not to pull... that is the question

I have heard that playing pull rope with your dachsie can injure it's back quite easily, especially at a young age. Has anyone else heard or have known of problems occuring tied to this? I'm going to be getting my puppy mid Aug and I have had other types of dogs in the past that use to love playing tug of war. I don't want to do anything to hurt my little man since I know that the dachshund back is something to be very careful with.

I think of more concern is the problem of the Alpha dog if you allow them to win the game of tug. My girls play tug all the time without my help... it is more than not wanting to share toys, it is actually "I have the toy and I bet you can't get it away from me." Rena, the 4 girls and 3 foster boys
