I don't know if any of you have contacts with other rescue groups (there is a lot more than dachshunds involved here). I sent it to Puppymillrescue (too big and too much for their group) and HUA. If you can think of another group, feel free to send it on. I don't even like the sound of them and know from ads I've seen that they sell lots of dachshund puppies. Rena

What about Best Friends Animal Sanctuary?? They may not have the resources either, but they are fairly big as animal rescues go and they take in horses/goats/donkeys/ and small animals too.

Gee that really is sad. It would take an organization with a lot of money to buy that operation out hmmmm, who's got money and takes action in regards to animals....

Anyone good at organizing a drive to get PETA and the Doris Day Animals Rights foundations to make some big donations to one or more nationally recognized rescue groups to help buy out and close down this mill. Of course then you have the ethnical question of paying this miller in the first place.

Get ready to find homes for Doxies when they can not get the price they want for the WHOLE thing.

I wonder if the USDA has pulled their license which would essentially put them out of business.
I have been all over the internet trying to get a handle on who these people are. To the best of my findings they do not have a web page.

I have been to a USDA web page that might have some information about this but when I click on a report I get a message that it is information that Webtv can not use.
If anyone has the time/desire to see what they might find, here is the addy for that USDA page:
http://search.atomz.com/search/?sp-a=00022bf7-sp00000000&sp-q=licensed+...

Or if any our members know why they are selling out?

Tom, I have to echo your sentiments about the ethics of putting money into puppy millers pockets, even in the name of saving dogs. It is always a difficult decision.

And pk you are right in the sense that if this is at all a USDA matter, and the miller is found to be in non-compliance, the agency now has the authority to turn the dogs over to recognized rescue groups.

Unless, he is able to dispose of (sell) the dogs before a given deadline.

Regardless, the dogs are at risk which is what makes this kind of situation so frustrating.

Hope someone can find out exactly what is going on.

Good work, Shonda. Have to ask:
How'dja do that? I went to Yahoo and did about 3 different searches and kept coming up empty.
I just went to their web site, clicked on their email addy and was kicked off the page. Maybe just Webtv acting up again.
Also clicked on available puppies and got a blank page.
Will keep on this, after dinner.
Thanks so much,
Roxane and crew

Shonda,

I'm curious too, HOW did you find Paw Paw Kennel? I kept coming up empty also. I went to Yahoo, and typed in Paw Paw Kennel. Let us know how ya did that, will ya?

I clicked on the link below and got it. So this place doesn't appear to be a typical 'Miller'. I assume they're a 'Commercial Kennel'? I DO hope that they close down and the dogs find new homes.

Don't let all the verbage about how kind and caring, how much they love the dogs and all the rest of the malarky (polite word) fool you. In no uncertain terms, this is a puppy mill! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/mad.gif

But this gets stranger and stranger.
When I went there earlier, there were frames on the side you could click taking you to "About Us", "Available Breeds" etc.
Now they are gone.

Jen, where did you find the email address bjwales....?

When I go there, the address is the same one originally posted here on the board about the liquidation.

I would be more than willing to forward the information to Kim Townsend, No Puppy Mills. I just need to make sure that I find out as much as I can and what I forward is accurate.

You gals are doing a super job,

Jen, dear, me lips are sealed, until I hear from you.
I did finally get to see puppies on the other page. You are all so right. No updates since last spring.

Counting on all fingers and toes I discovered that these lovely caring people keep the pups until they are 5 1/2 weeks old! Now that is devotion, right?
They would probably sell them at 4 1/2 weeks if they thought they could get away with it.

You're right, I am upset,

I am so impressed with you all! I hope that something can be done for the dogs and that they find safe homes. I have to go out of town tomorrow and have been running in circles while the detectives are at work. Tried to check on AKC violations and didn't find any for them. Thanks for all your efforts! Rena

Roxane, the frames (links on the left side) are still there, at least they showed up for me anyway.

Rena, have a safe trip.Hope the "detectives" will take your absence in stride.
Susan, finally did get that to come up for me.

Am hunting around for places that might be interested in getting the information.

The best case scenario would be that they do not find a buyer. They are obviously looking for another miller to scoop up the dogs or someone who wants to get into the business.

To be realistic the only way these dogs will ever get out of their circumstances is for the USDA to confiscate them and turn them over the appropriate rescue organizations.

It is a feeeling of helplessness that turns into frustration and then to anger, that fuels our fire to attempt to do something despite the odds against us.

If anyone else has any ideas and suggestions, please post.

Be back later,
Roxane and crew

I found them using Copernic 2000. It is a great tool when searching the web. All I have is the free version found at www.copernic.com (http://www.copernic.com) Please keep me updated on this situation I would like to help if I can. Don't know what but my heart goes out to all these pups.

Thanks, Shonda. Copernic, huh? Sounds like something you take for a sick stomach. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif
Will have to try them for searches.

Thought and thought about this and the best I could come up with was to take it back to Texas.

Needing to be careful not to post on lists or to do any advertising for this liquidation, I started at the top with the Texas SPCA and the Humane Society of Greater Dallas.

Then I went to the Breed Clubs in Texas for dogs mentioned in the notice. That covered Dachshunds, Cockers, Goldens, and Pugs.

On the legitimate list I had for those organizations I didn't find any kennel clubs for the other dogs.

My third effort was directed at recognized anti-puppy mill groups, via their webmasters.

I sent the information we have and simply asked if they or an organization they knew might keep these dogs from ending up in a commercial puppy mill.

Because the operation is in Texas, perhaps the animal lovers there will make an effort in that direction.

At this time, I have no other ideas,
Roxane and crew

A short follow up:
To date I have received several emails from people I contacted. Not sure they can do much but are networking with rescue and breed groups about the situation.

Did hear from one gal that there is a man in the Canton area that provides room, once a month, on his private property for millers to sell their dogs.

Not the auctions we hear so much about but more like a flea market. He rents the millers booth space.

The way of the world never ceases to amaze me,

Canton is actually the "Home" of first Mondays trade days... a huge flea market and it doesn't surprise me that millers would be there. Right now there are so many dogs being fostered in Texas, I am not sure what we could do, but, I would sure give it a try. My new foster is sleeping happily on the couch. He is mostly dachshund with a beagle nose and is going to be responsible for Miss LuLu's weight reduction program as he is usually in constant motion. Thanks again, Rena

Hey Rena, a dachsie with a beagle nose sounds like a cutie. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

I may be overly optimistic but a friend just emailed a notice that a puppy mill in Arkansas is also selling out. Could it be that little by little, progress is being made in the war against millers?

Gives me renewed energy to continue the fight,

Mr. Pibb knows he is cute and is definitely a lover boy. Hopefully, someone will look through the "mix" part and see his wonderful personality. If I get a chance, I will try to post a picture. I hope you are right about the "millers." Every day I find more sites in Texas (there is even one that specializes in double dapples). Rena

I always just LOVE to hear of another one going belly up but that means more puppers that need a home NOW and have soo many problems for their life in the mill.

Roxane

Yes, indeed pk, if rescue is fortunate and able to grab the dogs before they go to another miller.
There is a new way to wage the war, I think it is important enough for me to start a new thread. Look for Big Sister/Big Brother.
