My dog Sunny has really long nails and I think I should have them clipped. In the past I've always had the vet do it, but recently I bought a clippers to do it myself, but I am afraid....any advice? :afraid:
Hi WM,
It's very difficult to describe in writing, but another thread on the same topic surfaced this site. http://www.vetmed.wsu.edu/ClientED/dog_nails.htm It looks pretty helpful. In addition to method . . . attitude is also important. If they sense you have a fear of clipping they will "milk" it for all it's worth, making the chore next to impossible. :)
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thank you so much, I will check the site out. Do you clip your dogs nails?
:flower:
Yes . . . as often as needed and as seldom as possible.

Glad to see the article concerning nail clipping. I do it, but only after my human kids complain that he is beginning to sound like a "velociraptor" on our wood floors - then we take care of that traumatic chore.
I don't think he has ever been hurt one bit but he sure doesn't like it at all. The sooner I'm done the better he likes it and it sounds so much quieter in the house.
