Hi:
Any members near the Berkeley Animal Shelter (Monks Corner) in South Carolina?
There is a good looking purebred needing to be pulled. Looks chocolate brown in photo. No info given re: sex, age etc.
I could probably foster if the dog is cat/other dogs friendly.
Either answer here, email or p.message, I will check back in an hour or two.
New Year's Eve is not exactly the best time to try to do this but...
Thanks,
Roxane and crew

Nadine, the SC rep is on leave for a couple of weeks...you might try contacting Debbie at dman@dycon.com and let them know there is a dachshund in need. They are in SC.

Hi Shelley:
Just had a rescuer (another breed) let me know she is going to that shelter tomorrow to evaluate a couple of other dogs. Surprised they will be open on New Year's Day. Asked her to find out everything she can about the dog from health to age to why is he/she at the shelter. I expect to hear more from the gal tonight.
I am going to just play this by ear until I have more facts. I may contact your person if I need someone to pull the dog.
Our Carolina rescue people are really great about helping/transporting even when it isn't a breed they usually work with. Jennifer, from our Board, is a wonderful example. She's been running all over the countryside with all manner of dogs.
Thanks again, Shelley, I'll keep you posted,
Roxane and crew
Been so busy with this I almost forgot...Happy New Year!http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/pink.gif

Golly I have to hurry with this reply or hubby will be saying, "Happy New Year" to only Greta and Baylea.
Jen, Becky Dean is going to the shelter which is near Charleston. She is going to let me know all about the dog and then we will make the decision about pulling. If so will need transport, probably several legs. But I am getting ahead of myself. Will let you know what I know, as soon as I know.
You are a peach to jump in here.
Happy New Year,
Roxane and crew

Let me know if you need help, especially with tranporting. If the run goes through this area, let me know.

Jen - if you end up helping, I can definately help with transport since I am located between you and the doggie. I am sure that there will be some dogs from Vance (the shelter that I am working with) that will need to get to Greensboro also.

Hi Gals:
Haven't heard from Becky yet. I suggested she email me from the shelter, if they will let her. I just hope they are open.
If we do get the dog, she mentioned she would be going to Charlotte, Jan. 13. But I think we can arrange something before that.
Taking down decorations and checking my mail every half hour.
Stand by with your appreciated offers.

PS Jen, hope baby Gwen got her New Years smooch, too!http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Jen and Jennifer:
Becky went to the shelter and they were closed. I gave her some numbers of PAWS volunteers in that area to call.
What I am going to do is keep in touch with the 2 of you via carbon copy emails, so we don't clog the BB with this mission.

Jen if you do an overnight, do you bring all the puppers? http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif
Sonja, we are really one small bubble off of level. But since we are all that way we don't recognize that fact! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif

Follow up:
The shelter has a policy I had not heard of before; If more than one person is interested and at the shelter when the dog is up for adoption, they have a drawing.
In this case he was adopted by a man and wife whose names were pulled.
Dennis, referred by DRNA, went to the shelter and put his name in the hat, since I had offered to foster.
Then he did something really smart.
He gave the couple who were taking the dog, his name and telephone number, asking them to call if they decided not to keep him. A small insurance policy to keep the dog from being returned to the shelter. Hats off to his quick thinking! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/bounce.gif
Let's hope the dog found a really good home. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/smile.gif
