Does anyone know of a website that offers lots of info about destinations, rentals, activities, etc. that would be pet friendly?

Please always CALL the hotel, as I found out the hard way. Some of these hotels on this site are NOT pet friendly in the least. We picked a hotel from the list and they said all you have to do is write in the comments that you are bringing your dog and they would be ready for you.
We got to our destination nearly midnight, went to check in and they said "no way, not now, not ever has this been a pet friendly hotel". We ended up trying to find a hotel that would take us AND Abby after midnight and ended up in a down right scary place.

As a general rule, most Super 8's take pets and so do some of the La Quinta Inns. I agree, call the hotel itself and verify they still take pets and what the pet fee is.

Another is:

I agree that it is important to verify that they still take pets.

It just depends on where you are going. Some of the Days Inn will take pets. I found that most of them along highway 10 don't, much to my disgust. If you are desperate, all motel 6 do, but you don't necessarily want to stay in just any motel 6. You can get the motels to send you their books with the listing in them, or stop by your local ones and pick up the books. We have ones for Days Inn, LaQuinta (did not think the room was worth it, but could have just been my bad luck that trip), Motel 6, and want to get a Super 8. As you travel, pick up the discount books at the rest areas, because they also give info and sometimes nice discounts. It helps if you have a crate with you, whether your pups actually sleep in it or not.
Be aware that the fees for pets can vary humogously. Some places have a cap, some places don't charge, and some places want to sell you the room for the year. Sheesh. Always ask before you sign on the dotted line, and you might want to ask to see the room. I got one that children had destoyed, so I guess they thought my dogs couldn't hurt it any worse. I complained loudly, and got a refund for part of it.

When we took G&P to a hotel up in Phoenix Az we only paid 10 dollars extra. We took their crates, X-Pen and plastic and pee pad and set it up nice for them. They were realy good--no complains. You wanna make sure you have Nature's Miracle with you-just in case.
Its kinda like traveling with children.

I agree, always call the hotel/motel when you make your reservations and ASK! We travel quite a bit and have always stayed at Holiday Inn Express. They don't have any extra fees attached to the boys staying and of course we never leave them aqlone in the room. We do carry their crates and toys with us and have never had any bad experiences with them. The boys love riding up and down on the elavators!

I wish I had known that Holiday Inn Express didn't charge a fee this past weekend. (That is a nice hotel chain.) I stayed at a Towne Place Suites by Marriot in Columbus, Ohio on Christmas Eve. I got soaked big time...$100.00 non-refundable pet fee...we were there for less than 12 hours. Very nice hotel with nice comfortable but not that nice!!!! I wrote them an email tonight to ask why so much and why the room book says $75 when I was charged $100.00. I think they should say right on their reservation website what the fee is instead of making you call the hotel to get the information. What gives..afraid no one will stay there since the fee is outrageous. They should be.

I have used VRBO (vacation rentals by owner) a couple of times and it's been terrific. You just go to the map, click on the state, then find the city or area you want to go to. When you look at the listing there will be a paw print on the right if it is pet friendly. Just click on it and it will give you all the info you need, cost, accomodations, extra pet fees if any.
We just went to NO Conway, NH on Thanksgiving weekend and got a condo within a 5 minute walk from the biggest outlet center you'd want to go to.
It was terrific. We could leave the pups in the crate in the room (that's the only stipulation in most is that they have to be crated in the room when you're not there) go shopping, go out to eat, and within 5 mins we can walk back, feed or walk them, recrate them and go back out shopping without ever stepping foot in the car.
There are places like this all over the country, and some outside the US also.
the website is

I've had positive experiences with Best Western. And also Holiday Inn Express. You wanna hear a funny one- I almost booked a room at a boutique hotel... then they indicated that "if" the "dog" barks too much you can be asked to leave in the middle of the night....with no refund. So yea, check " their" attitude as well as policy!

I have been in motels that I wish would have had the policy for the two legged guests that stayed there.
