:circle: Knowing that dogs often don`t like postmen and some dogs have been known to attack them. When our dachsies were small we had a grand plan. We would introduce them to Dave the postman (who loved dogs) and they would make friends with Dave. And for the rest of their lives they would like postmen.
This worked for a couple of years until, yes you`ve guessed it, Dave was promoted and moved off his round. If we were out and Dave was on the other side of the road in his uniform they would squeak with joy to get at him. He fussed them, and they fussed him.
Then came the shock. They saw a postman`s uniform in the distance but it wasn`t Dave. Now every time they see a postman they growl immediately and have to be restrained. If Otto gets to the mail before we do he rips it to shreds (this includes the daily paper).
I would be interested to know if other doxie lovers have had this type of problem and if they have any "kind" methods of dealing with it. Also bearing in mind that some postmen are actually afraid of miniature dachshunds, and definitely give off the wrong vibes.
