Ingredients:
8 cups of flour
4 teaspoons (or 2 Tblsp--per recipe card) of baking powder
2 teaspoons of salt (adjust to taste/preference; if using salt substitute, reduce by 1/2)
6 tablespoons of shortening
3 cups of warm water

Mix all ingredients, and let rest for an hour or so; form small balls of dough, and roll-out (or stretch into form by hand) hand-size (or however large you want them) fry-breads, fry in hot oil until lightly brown

Top with honey, powdered sugar, or taco meat, refried beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and your favorite taco or picante sauce and enjoy!

Can you fry it in a pan or do you need a deep fryer? I love Indian fry bread...

I've never tasted fry bread.

How much does it make...and can you store left overs??

This will make about 8-12 depending how big you make them. You can store left overs for about a week. I generally store them in a ziplock bag on the counter or in a bread box. The fridge would be fine too.

I had some at our native American festival here in Milwaukee. It's soooo good!

MMM Indian tacos...yummy stuff! Maybe I'll trek over to NMAI (Gov speak for National Museum of the American Indian) for lunch!
