I need some advice quick!! Abbie has a horrible desire to chew up every pair of underwear we own. It doesn't matter if they are clean or dirty. Help I need a solution. She can find they anywhere. Strange problem isn't it.:crying:

While I've never had a dog with that habit I understand it's not uncommon. How about taking a pair or two and saturating them with bitter apple or bitter end then leave them out some place where your dog will spot them. Personally I think bitter end is a little more potent than bitter apple but people have reported good luck with both products.

Thanks dutchman and the boys. That sounds like a great idea. Something I did not think of. Will let you know what happens.
Thanks again;)

So, I am extremely curious as to weather or ot the 'cure' has worked for Abbie's inderwear fetish? We are also experiencing this same problem with our Lilo. Any tips on how to break her from feasting on the cat box?

Sorry to say no it hasn't.:crying: She just gets told no a lot now. Abbie knows she is doing something wrong because she will leave them alone for awhile. As far at the litter box problem we have a cat also and Abbie I think would like to get in there too. I keep thinking that she has a lot of puppy still in her and things will get better. My proble now is that she snaps and nips at us in play. Even after repeating no she continues. Is funny on some things she response well to commands and other things not so well. I still think she is so funny and cute. She loves to cuddle up with me and Dakota, our cat.:asleep: I love her so much that I sometimes overlook her faults. Big question out there!!! when Abbie runs and plays hard she starts wheezing when she stops running. Is that a common problem with Doxie's? Keep in touch with your Lilo problem. Would love to here from you often and if you are having any luck solving it.

I wish I could be of more help with the underwear issue! Bella used to grab them anytime she could, but luckily a few firm "NOs" did the trick.
As far as the nipping and snapping, I can share the advice passed on to me from the board that worked wonders. Of course I started this when Bella was very young (2 months). The first thing was when she would nip me (if it was harder than it should be in play) I would yell "OW!", and immediately cease play. The next thing was if play was getting too rough, I would flip her over on her back and hold her there for a minute. (Nothing too rough, yet firm.) This is showing her who is the top dog. After dilligently repeating these practices, there hasn't been a need for any correction in 4 months. These methods worked great for me. (Thanks again guys!) Hope this helps!

Abbie is 7 1/2 months old.

Thanks for the advice. I will try that technique on Abbie this week. To me she so smart so I think that might get the message across.

HAHAHAHA!

I'm sorry I missed this one. Just last night Aug, Bud and I had a three way tug of war with a pair of Shenn's panty hose. I had the waist, Aug had one leg and Bud on the other.

The best was when my neice staied with us for a week. I had company over and Aug came running down the hall with a pair of her underware, swung it around like a trophy and ran back down the hall with it. She was mortified!:D

Be careful of the foot stockings though, I have already pulled one out of Aug's throught!

I'm starting to take some training class w/Angus. The trainer (who believes in positive reinforcement) says try a water gun or squirt bottle give him a little squirt and say “No” or “Off”. :nono:
Then when he stops praises him for stopping or give him a little treat, but you must be consistent. Or try by putting some underwear where he can get it (make a point to keep the rest out of reach until he’s trained) and do the same thing.

I hope that helps!

Yes, I agree. :)

The squirt gun/spray bottle is a great deterent for that and even barking. It's amazing how after a few squirts in the face combined with the appropriate command word will make them so aware that they start acting right as soon as you put the gun/bottle in your hand. :)

the squirt gun is a life saver. All we have to do is *GO* for the bottle and Chief stops whatever it is he is doing. Amazing...nothing else has worked except this. I like this as it is not harsh and gets the point across quickly.

So far w/ Angus it's worked like a charm! Angus really like my shoe strings and I'm so afraid I'm going to step on him. I do keep the bottle around all the time. I've got 2 cats so I use it on them but it was new to me to use it on a dog....but it works!!:D
