Ick! So I found a couple of fleas on Maddie today. :faint: Not fun! I think she may have picked them up at the dog park a couple days ago. I think her frontline was about to expire and I was all out. So I went to Petco and picked up a 3pack of Frontline Plus for $60. :faint: I think that's outrageous.
My question. Where do you all purchase your flea medicine and what kind do you use?
1800petmeds has Frontline Plus 3 months for $45 w/free shipping.
PetSuppliesNet.com has Frontline PLus for 3 months for $27 which I've done before and there shipping isn't too bad. They are mailing this from New Zealand though.
I feel like the 1800petmeds is pretty legit but I don't know about these other online sites. The frontline and Heartguard I had for Maddie is from that petsuppliesnet but like I said I think it's barely been a month and she has fleas so not sure how well it's working. help2: I dont want to buy from Petco again but felt it was worth it to go ahead and get it on her immediately this time.
:thanx: Krista

Scootman is on the flea/heartworm pill all year. If your dog had fleas I would spray your carpet, etc., b/c the eggs can fall off & get in the carpet ... and Voila, you have fleas again in a few weeks.
The flea/heartworm pill is NOT cheap by any means. I did get it on the net once, but I still had to have the Vet call in a prescription, which of course, I was charged for. I think its like $85 for 6 months. What you paid, $60 for 3 months of frontline... is kinda steep, IMHO.
No matter where you buy it, the flea/tick/heartworm stuff is expensive. I'm not a fan of topicals for small dogs, b/c my first doxie, Shelby  (RIP, sweet girl) had a severe allergic reaction.

I buy all the dog stuff from www.petedge.com
I find that the price is good and I stock up on toys, treats, clothes, puppy pads, etc. I buy from that website about 2x a year and I have lots of stuff and great prices. Irma is another petedge fan :D
Here is the link to frontline plus: http://www.petedge.com/Frontline-Plus-6-Month-Flea-Treatment-ZX393.pro
And then the regular frontline: http://www.petedge.com/Frontline-6-Month-Flea-Treatment-ZX392.pro
The only thing with PetEdge is since its all wholesale prices, you have to purchase at least $60 worth otherwise they charge you an "underlimit fee" of I think $7. But since you'd be buying flea meds. it'll get the price up there quick enough. :)
This is my main great find on the site that is hard to find for some reason, I don't think its named properly or something. I always have to use the search box to find it. 200 puppy pads for $33!!! http://www.petedge.com/Clean-Go-Pet-Puppy-Pads-200-count-ZW19390.pro

Thanks. That PetEdge place looks awesome. And my vet doesn't approve of the flea/tick pill because they still had a few animals coming in Heartworm Positive when there were on the pill. I think it was called Revolution? Just a fyi.
On that website you posted I can get 6 months for the amount I paid for 3! :faint:

we usually make 3 step defence :-)
so, in spring when snow is melting we 1. wash all dogs with FLEA & TICK SHAMPOO Bio-Groom; 2. Use Frontline spot on; 3. put on special collar (Hartz - 2 in 1 Flea Cоllar)
We repeate this manipulations every 2 months

I use Frontline for my kids during the warmer months + Interceptor for heartworm, and Sentinel (heartworm and flea preventative combo pill) during late fall and winter.
If applied correctly, the Frontline should resolve the problem. Just make sure to clean your home really well. Vaccuum every room, and make sure to empty the container and/or dispose the bag. Wash all the bedding too and that should help control the problem.
Good luck!!

We were using Frontline because that is what the breeder used..... but D's vet had us switch to Advantage. She said that Frontline has/had chemicals in it that shouldn't be used. That the Advantage is a much safer product.
So, we now use Advantage and it works great:Sun2:
I just found a website about fipronil (Frontline)....please READ IT!

Ewwwwwwww - let's NOT talk fleas! My vet says Frontline + is the best, but sometimes I wonder. I had a BAD batch of them a couple of summers ago, thanks to the scared neighbor dog who hid under our house and left critters - I used a LOT of DE, did a lot of vacuuming and laundering and finally got rid of them - but it wasn't easy! I think DE is GREAT stuff - and as safe as anything available, as far as I know!

Yikes :yikes: that is scary! We just stared using Frontline this past flea season. I wasn't too sure about it because the first time I put it on them, they BOTH started scratching and nipping at themselves for the first 15 mins. I freaked out and called the number on the back. They told me sometimes animals will get itchy but it is not harming them. I'm still not sure about that :( But all of the sudden they stopped itching. About 5 weeks later I applied the second dose and decided that if they itched like that again I was going to wash it off and throw all the Frontline away and go back to Advantage. But it didn't happen :dunno: They acted normal, and have ever since that first time. I have no problems switching back to Advantage, they both seem to do the trick...

All I know is she said Advantage was safer and I should NOT use Frontline. That they used to carry both but they stopped carrying Frontline because Advantage is safer.
I do trust her. She is a WONDERFUL and caring person/vet. She LOVES Dixie to pieces. Whenever we go in she gets right down in D's face and sweet talks her like she was her own baby. Of course D goes bonkers over her too.

I use Revolution on all three girls, and have not had a problem with it. Revolution goes on just like Frontline. Not a pill. They get a heartworm test every six months. I can't imagine why you pay that much for Frontline. When I was getting it from my vet, it was $42 for a 3 pack, and they were higher than PetSmart.
Sorry you have run into fleas. Wash all the bedding every few days. The darn eggs come out every three weeks unless you get them all. :goodluck:

I used Advantage on G&P and my vet will not sell it anymore, a big Lab got burned, so bad by it, that he had to get skin crafts. For some reason he had a very bad allergic reaction to it.
I only use Frontline, for about 3 1/2 months out of the year. We use Interceptor for heartworms all year. I think the medication use, is a toss up--everyone has its pro's and cons.
Nothing is safe.

I agree. I ALSO just learned that AdvanTIX is toxic to cats. Our cat got sick and the vet asked if anything had changed. Maddie had just recently gotten her frontline application and Hazel (cat) is always all over Maddie...biting licking etc so we told the vet. I would think all topical flea meds wouldn't be so great to ingest personally..

I rely on my vet, but always do a lot of research myself also--just to be on the save side.
Personnaly I liked Advantage--never had a problem with it, but for him to pull it, there has to be a reason. I don't think any of the vets here in SV sell it.
