View Full Version : Chewy
This is a tribute to our darling Chewy, who was taken from us at such a tender age and who died defending his garden and saving us. He's our hero and we love him and miss him more than I can ever possibly describe. He gave us two and a half spectacular years of fun, laughter and love; and we are simply bereft without him. Little Rooster, you're in a happy place now - causing havoc we're sure! - but surrounded by love. You were so clever, so athletic, so beautiful, so valiant, and so fiercely loving and loyal to us three - thank you for enriching our lives, you are with us always and we will never forget a thing. We will all be together again one day, rest in peace precious boy. With all our love: your mom, dad and 'big' sister Solo.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow;
I am the sunlight on ripening grain;
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry -
I am not there. I did not die.

Thank you for your response to the thread on our Wimpy . . . how saddened we are to hear about your loss of Chewy. We do not have words that will comfort you . . . just know that in this world there are others like us who are feeling your special pain.
What a wonderful poem you posted here and in Wimpy's thread . . . thank you! The tears do lessen, but the pain lingers . . . we're sure you are remembering all the good times and things about Chewy. He and Wimpy are romping together at the Bridge . . . waiting for us.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss of Chewy. He certainly was brave. It always amazes me how these little ones are so ready to defend their families with their own lives to protect us.
His memory and bravery will always be with you.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss of Chewy. At this point I won't attempt to post another poen to this thread. Some day sooner or latter the right little companion will wander into your life and help med that hole in your heart left by your loss.

Chewy certainly was a hero. I'm sure he'll have an extra-special place at the bridge with the other selfless dogs who gave their lives to protect their owners.
Losing a dog in an accident may be even harder than losing one to illness because you don't have any time to prepare yourself and say your goodbyes. I'm sorry that you had to feel the pain of losing a dog before his time.
Chewy was a lucky dog for having such a great family and I'm sure that he enjoyed every day that he had with you.
