Hello all,

My new puppy is chewing up everthing in the house. I haven't gotten her any toys yet but that is next on the agenda. Do you suggest anything in particular?

Kongs are great for puppies and grown up dogs alike. You can go to the site to get info on them at www.kongcompany.com Many people put food inside and freeze them and give them to their pups as it takes a while for them to get all the food out. They are also very well made and are hard to chew apart. Galileo bones and nylabones are also good toys that are hard to chew.

I'd go for the kongs first.

Good luck! :)

Well, they are each so fussy on what is a good toy..

For puppy teeth, you might want to start with an old sock! Make sure she knows it is hers - when she chews something else, give her a firm "no" and replace the article she is chewing with her sock.

Dachsie's are chewers (my new little girl love to rearrange my clothes to her satisfaction), but with a little love and....you guessed it...patience...she will get the message.

There's a lot of stuff she has to figure out for such a little thing - not to worry, keep loving her to bits and she will get there. If you give her the confidence by not punishing her but rather guiding her, she will learn even faster.

Cheers
Juliette

Most of the toys that members have given their Dachsies that work are in the store. Click the *store* bone icon at the top of the page and navigate to the toys. We have great luck with Galileo bones and others here have recently raved about the replaceable squeaker toys, Buster Cubes and Kongs shown there. She may be a bit young for some of them, though.

Good luck as Dachsies can chew up a storm.
