Oscar, ten months, has suddenly developed dandruff. We bathed him as soon as we noticed but it came right back....any ideas why? And how I can get rid of it? He goes bonkers when brushed. Did from the beginning. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank You!

it strips the oils from the coat! As far as why dandruff? Could be due to what he's eating/or not eating? The weather? What are you feeding? A high quality food I hope with some fish oil?

Adding fish/salmon oil (1000mg capsule) and sardines packed in water to his diet daily should help - if you are not already doing so. Also, especially during the winter months, don't bathe any more frequently than absolutely necessary - as stated above. A good quality food is a must as well.

Maybe it's the type of brush you use. I bought an oval shaped soft rubber brush with little rubber nubs. It's about the size of your hand with a rubber handle that fits over the top of your hand with the nubs acting as the 'brush'.

It's soft & flexible & shapes to the dog's body. My two little men love it. It acts like a massager while you're brushing. It can also be used when bathing them. I have never seen any dandruff on my two...Maybe their diet & brushing them daily takes care of the problem.

I bought mine at PetSmart & I use it everyday.

To help the skin from drying out during the winter we use a humidifier.
Also we add Virgin Coconut oil to their meals.
And finally, we use an all natural lavender shampoo on them and it seems to be fairly gentle.
