Dappling can happen with just about any color dachsie. Below are Darci (a black and tan dapple) and Rusty (a red dapple). You can see the dapple patern more with Dar than Rusty. With red dapples you can't always tell they are dapple. Many times the dapple will become less pronouced as they get older.

The eye color you have is totally normal for dapples. They don't all have the different color eye, but it is normal :)
You have any pictures of your little one?
thanks so much! are dapples pretty rare? i just got her yesterday. i will take her picture. her markings sort of look like a giraffe. i have wanted a boy and a girl for a long time (we have a boy, dexter) this little doggie was at the humane society, is 6 months and in great health. my friend was talking to the humane society lady about her and then she told me about her and then i just had to have her. anyway, i will take her picture tonight, but how do you post it on this board?
thanks, dana

if you want, you can email it to me and I will post for you!
I don't know how rare dapples are. They aren't as common as Reds, B&Ts but I see more dapples than Piebalds. I would love to get a piebald pup, but I will have to wait until I get some changes made in my homeowners association!
Hi Dana,
For posting pics see http://dachsie.org/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4654

Cheers,
thanks so much for the help! what does a piebald look like? thanks mark for the link. i will take some pictures tonight. i am excited about this new pup and nervous at the same time. dexter our current pup is so high maintence with his slimy poop problem that i have written about on this board before. but, he needs to learn he is not the king of the world. it will be good for him to have a sister. ;)

Here is a site that describes many of the different dachsund coat patterns: http://www.lilpawsranch.com/pattern_page.html It was just the first one that came up when I did a web search of "blue eye" +dachshund. I'll let others comment about the accuracy of the site. They also have a page that describes colors.
Congratulations on the new addition. Tanner is a B&T LH Dapple.

From the link that Tom posted below
If dappling occurs in eyes, eyes will be blue (can be one or both) or have blue flecks in them.

Dana, they are both adorable. I love dee-dee's eye colour - very neat! As for Dexter, he's got a great head, and very expressive ears.
Woofs from the Canuck dachsies!
thanks so much. dachsies are the cutest!

Dapples, Dapples, Dapples. I love dapples! We have 2- Darby- long hair black & tan and Patty - long hair red. Then there is Liala- just a smooth red. After, I got my first long hair years ago, I fell in love with them. Then we got a long hair dapple and that is the best. Of course, all dachsies are the best.
Yes, the blue eye is common in the dapple. Adds character. Good luck with your new puppy.
