Well, I've heard of this, but this is the first time I've had to deal with it up close and personal. Angel loves poop. She will eat it. She will wear it. What does everyone else do about this? If we're walking and she decides to consume the fruits of her labor, I have to (yuk) get it out of her mouth. I can't decide if this is worse than rolling in it. Gives new meaning to "stop, drop and roll". This is immediately followed by an emergency bath. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

I'm not sure of the health implications, but it is a yucky habit. :flush:

We've tried the various remedies available for this, but never found one that works. Even the ones that others boast about working so well. :( We currently have two that do and three that won't have anything to do with it. :(

There was another recent discussion about this in another thread found here: Yucky Poop Eating Thread! (http://dachsie.org/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4741)

I hope you have better luck than we have had.

BTW, we have tried everything mentioned in this thread. :dizzy:

"Poo eating" is sometimes linked to health issues, so if you haven't taken her to the vets yet, it might be a good idea. There are a lot of products out there that can be fed to the dog to make the poo less "appetizing" :flush: , or you can also try "proofing" the dog against poo eating. This can be done by either squirting them (or something else that they don't like) everytime they start to touch the poo, or by sprinkling foul smelling/tasting stuff (like pepper or hot sauce) on the poo before they get a chance to touch it, so that when they eat it, they "correct" themselves. I've never had to use any of these methods (all of our dogs avoid poo liike it's the plague :D ), so I have no idea how well they work.
