Well the cat issue never got better with Zues, so I had to find him a loving home.
I had a lot or response, and found a home where he has two kids, no cats or other dogs. They must have thought I was nuts as I sat there bawling when he left, but it is whats best for him and the cats. He already had one eye scratch had to treat. He seemed to really take to his new mommy and they are gonna keep him on his diet. When he came here he could barley waddle. Now he can run, and jump and you can see the beginning of a waist on him. He was even chasing toys!
Just breaks my heart though, but I know hes in a good home where he wont be moved again. Even Julie is sad, she is sitting on the couch moping.
Its so funny songs that are on the radio that are about people, remind me of my pets, and have me in tears. ( Majestic died two months ago and songs still make me cry) And then that sugar sugar song, by the archies comes on after dropping of Zues, and I called Zues sugar as a nick name....agggg

Thanks. I know I did what is best for him. I feel so bad that he had to change again and get confused, though Zues seems happy anywhere, lol Hes that kind of dog. He did like his new mommy, and was giving her lots of kisses. They even drove in a long way to get him. It just seems so extra quiet around here tonight.

Next time I find Julie a buddy, I will make sure he/she is cat tested very well:)
Don't want to go through the heartbreak all over again. Tonight I have some happy cats that are out in the living room for the first time in weeks. They are not afraid of Julie, but of course she never has chased or barked at them ,lol
In fact my siamese sleeps next to her, its so cute. I will have to get a picture next time.
Will look into rescues . I tried to do the foster thing here, but they said I lived too far but they have me down for transport if ever needed:)
Thanks for the hugs:)

I am so sorry for you.
Glad to hear that his new mommy loves him though.

Julie was sad all night. I woke up this morning and she pooped on the floor, something she never does. Do you think she did it because she misses Zeus?

You have to do what you feel is right. I have 6 cats and 6 doxies. One of our doxies just loves cats and kittens. She thinks she is their mother! Two of our doxies chase the cats because they think they are playing, while one of those will nip at them. If the cat isn't intimidated and beats the crap out of the dog, the dog eventually gets the message and doesn't bother with them. That is my Buddy Cat...queen of the house!! She has "trained" the dogs to leave her alone. Two of the cats, Lego and Misty play with the dogs, while Nubby, Grr, and Bill hide from them. What can I say, my house has gone to the pets!!! We have gates up in some of the doorways to let the dogs know which rooms are for the cats, etc. I know, I know. I am crazy!!!:Sun2:

Wow what a houseful! But then again so do I,lol with 4 cats, a dog, and eventually two dogs.
My cats are over 11 years old, and this is their first exposure to dogs.
They do fine with Julie. But were terrified of Zues and he chased and barked, and tried to nip. They were living under the bed in fear so it just wasn't fair.
The lady that I rescued Zues from said he was great with cats. She should have said great at chasing cats. Gonna take a break to let me get over Zues, then when I try to find her a pal, it will be with a pupper who is very well tested with the felines .

Yeah, that's a tough one. I would say Maddie is great with cats...but she also does chase them. But they were best buds...and chased each other. She's always calmer around new cats that don't want to play with her.

When you decide to start looking for that second dog again, you may do better with a puppy. A puppy can often grow up with cats around and not harrass the daylights out of them. And the cats can dominate a puppy if necessary :D

Thats an idea too. Maybe I just got real lucky with Julie in that she ignores them.

Things are so different for me than they are with you. We all have different circumstances. When I was single I had 2 cats that I spoiled rotten. It wasn't until after I was married and my mother passed away that I adopted my doxies. You see I started becoming depressed and got all melancholy over my childhood when I had doxies.

I dont think I could ever function without my animal babies. My husband gets mad sometimes, but I told him before he married me, I come with animals:)
