Hey everyone!

I am working on putting together a giant list of free picture hosting sites so you can pist pictures of your little ones. So far... we only have a few, but they have been tested and work here on the DBB. Below you will see the sites that have been tried, and work... in no special order!

http://starphoto.starblvd.net/
http://www.picturetrail.com

The ones below will let you make an online photo album. These sites DO NOT let you link the pictures back to here, but they are still free... and still work great for albums!

http://www.webshots.com
http://www.photoaccess.com

Once I find new sites for both of the lists above... I will add them. I will try and help anyone who needs it! Just PM, IM, or Email me ;)

Picturetrail.com is supposed to be pretty good too, and I think it allows you to link to/post pics too.

BTW, if someone wants to just add it to the list below, I'll delete this post ;)

I use villagephotos.com for the photos that I have here. It is free and is easy to use.

Stacy,

Thanks for that site! I don't remove posts from this thread. If anyone finds a good free site... POST AWAY. If it isn't free... I'll remove it ;)

I have still been checking around for the free hosting sites. The best ones are still listed n this thread.

A few things I have noticed... villagephotos.com has a limit of bandwidth you can use per day. If you go over... your pictures won't display.

I also noticed that Picturetrail.com is free to start, then they ask you to pay 19.95 for the year... which isn't bad at all. This isn't a sales pitch for Picturetrail... I wouldn't do that... but 20 buck to store 500 pictures isn't to bad! If anyone has any more free (or really cheap) sites to store pictures on... please... post away!

I am using picture trail and so far I like it. I went ahead and paid the $19.95 for the year. Only down side is uploading pictures on a dial up connection usually can only upload one picture at a time.

I bought an HP Photosmart printer last winter when my other printer died and registration lets you use the hpphoto.com to store pictures. So far it's been free. If anyone has hp products they might want to check it out.

Doesn't yahoo also let you post pictures for free?

You would view the size of the image you want to post here (not the thumbnail) and right click the picture. You will see Address (URL) That is what you post here!

I have been trying to insert the code for my pictures on Yahoo myself. Right clicking in WinME doesn't bring up "Address or View Image". I tried clicking on the picture and then copying the URL in the address and putting it inside the img src= and > but in the preview it didn't show up. Just the x'd out image.

Photos of my dogs, roses, students, etc. are at http://photos.yahoo.com/fgumcfp

I use PhotoIsaland and it is very user friendly.

It is NOT very friendly to this site. The problem with Yahoo is that they assign a different temporary address to a photo each time you view it- and when you STOP viewing it, the address expires. I never found a way to make it work nicely! :(

But I second Yolanda- Photoisland is almost always user friendly (once you figure out what you're doing, at least!). I know it's a MAJOR pain to have to upload all those pictures again- wish I had a better way for you!

Miss Girrl is such a pretty thing! You have some wonderful pictures- I can't wait until we get you posting them! :D

I use MY picture Gallery

http://www.mypicgallery.com/?

I like it- easy to use but once you add to threads you have to take OUT the ?/ that appears in the middle of the url address in order for it to show up in thread.... Dont ask me why- who knows :)

I guess it would have been a miracle if *everyone* could see the pictures, right? :D

I usually use Snapfish, but for some reason, when I uploaded I only saw the red Xs. Then I tried Ofoto, which has never worked for me, and I saw the pictures.

Groan--guess I'll have to sign up with another free online photo site.

Will try again...

But thanks for the warm welcome everybody! And for the compliments, from those rare souls who *did* see the picts!

I've been using http://photobucket.com for a while now, and I love it. It's free, and you get 100 mb of space, which is plenty. The only downside of it is that pics do have a size limit, 250kb, but that's still plenty big enough for most pics. Most of the pictures I have hosted on there are around 200kb, and I've currently got around 550 pics on there, plus 15mb of space free, just to give an idea of how much space there is. It also resizes any pics that are too big automatically, and provides the link for the pic, UBB code for posting the pic, plus HTML code for posting the pic on the thumbnails page, which makes posting them even easier.

I have been using flickr.com to upload pics and share them with the board, and it's working great. There is a limit to how much you can upload per month - 10 MB. The limit is on bandwidth, not storage. So for people who can resize their photos to be smaller, flickr would probably be a good site to use. However, if you refer people, you get more storage space. If anyone wants to join, PM or reply and I will send you an invite!

Thanks for the updated site! That is one of the things that make this board great... no matter what... we share info! :D

Alright, should have posted this a long time ago!

When I want a quickie, totally easy host- I use: Imageshack (http://www.imageshack.us/ ).

No sign-up time wasted- you don't need an account or an email address or ANYTHING. Totally easy, fast uploads- it immediately hands you IMG tagged links (like the board uses), along with every other link you'd need. :)

It accepts all the common file types, has a generous max file size of 1024KB per photo, and no bandwidth or storage restrictions. ;)

See Free Image Hosting @ Free WebSpace (http://www.free-webhosts.com/free-image-hosting.php?sort=4&page=1) (sorry if there are pop-ups- my blockers stop them if there are)... it's an up to date listing of the most popular freebie photo hosts with ratings, file types, restrictions, etc. listed.

Flickr looks like it MAY be a good site, eventually- it has some lofty plans- but is still currently a bit limited (in Beta stage). And sadly, lots of these sites go belly up before they catch on. Make sure you NEVER load photos directly to a website without backing them up to personal storage first.

I used to use www.photobucket.com but they sent me an e-mail saying that I'll have to pay now if I continue to use it, I closed my account on that one. Now I use www.imagestation.com and I've been using it for a while and I love it, I have had no problems at all with them.

I'm using tinypic.com. You do have to email the URLs to yourself, but its free without a login or password. I think someone else mentioned it as well. Its working well for me.

I understand that photoisland is no longer there so I went to photobucket took me awhile to learn how to use it (check into it, if photoisland is no longer there you need to delete it from your list)

The easiest way to upload pictures for message boards is

www.imageshack.us
They resize the pictures , and all you have to do is copy the link and put it in. Even if you have a picture you want to show in it's full size, they will format a thumbnail picture to put on the message board for people to click on. :thumbup2:

Another one, that works similar is:

http://www.myimg.de/
It's in German, but so straighforward and easy that you don't need to speak the language to understand. :D

I've been using Photobucket.com for several years. It's free and easy to use. I have a dial up and pictures upload pretty quickly, but I always reduce their size first.

Anyone ever try Picasa Web Albums by Google?

You can share whatever pics/videos are on your PC and decide which ones to make public. I like it when I go on vacation I link family/friends to Picasa so their emails do not get bogged down with attached pics.

Picasa Web Albums is the fast and easy way to put your photos online so you can start sharing. Use it with the Picasa software to upload entire albums of high quality photos in a click of the software's "Web Album" button, or use your normal web browser to add pics. Each account gets 1GB (and counting!) of free storage - that's enough to post and share around 4,000 standard resolution photos. Best of all, you and your friends can download your photos at the same high quality to print and enjoy.

I'm getting very angry with Photobucket.com. :punch: I tried to log in last week and they kept telling me my password was incorrect. I contacted them, as per their directions, and they said they sent me the information, but I never got it. Realizing they sent it to an email address I no longer had, I contacted them again. They then sent me a bunch of questions to answer, proving that it really was my account. I answered the questions and sent them back. I've heard nothing from them since, in spite of the many emails I"ve sent, pleading for a response. I'm angry and I'm frustrated. :angry013:

Meanwhile, I can't post any new pictures. I've been gone from here for a couple of months, and I have some pictures I'd love to share, but I can't.:pull_hair:
