It is time to reorder Advantage Flea Control for my doggies. I have always used this product with good results. They have never had any fleas. But I am wondering what other options I have that would be better for them. I would be interested to know what the members of this board have found to be effective and safer than Advantage?

I've been using Braggs Natural Unpasturized, Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinager (sp) in my boys water and it has been wonderful! A teaspoon in their bowls keeps fleas and ticks at bay. It's worked for me for about 3 years without an issue. Just a thought, something to try.

I wish I could remember where I read about it. I think it may have been on Dogster and then I went and researched it and figured, it couldn't hurt and it has really been a success. Especially since I live in PA and there are lots of fleas and ticks and I haven't had a problem at all. I'm one of those people that like to try more "natural" remedies before going chemically. I give my boys baths about once a week/2 weeks and I haven't found a flea yet. Best of luck to you.
The vinager has to be unpasterized or unfiltered and can be found in the natural foods section of a grocery store or a health food store.

Very interesting. Better than chemicals and around here this year, the fleas are bad.

I have always had good luck with Garlic and brewers yeast pills. Helps coat too, but the flies and flees don't like the smell and I have yet been able to smell it on them.
