My son gave Frankie a stuffed chicken. It's so cute; it even has an egg! Anyway, we monitor her with it because as we all know, dachsies can be very destructive with their toys. So far, she pushes it around, carries it and plays with it.
She likes to throw her ball downstairs. If you're at the base of the stairs, she'll get her ball, then bark at you to get your attention. She either pushes it with her nose or kicks it. So cute!

One of my first toys for :dog: Sasha was a little stuffed lamb with a sqeaker- She never chewed it ( still has after a year) but boy can she sqeak that toy. Never fails whenever I sit to watch a fav. show or movie she justs sqeaks that toy no end. It is the cutest thing:) , but it does drive me crazy .
I did get her a plastic bone for her birthday this Feb. The clerk told me it was harder to chew apart. I do not think she knows a dashie. My  /:devil: dog had a hole in it within 2 hrs. Sasha was a bit  at her "mommy" for throwing it out.
I keep an eye on her when she uses the toys - no more plastic ones tho.
Dashies do have a mind of their own.

Angel loves stuffed animals, especially if they squeak. We tried several kinds of squeaky toys which usually last about fifteen minutes. We also sacrificed several stuffed animals with the usual results (stuffing all over the house).
Our new find is the Easy Opening type toys made by Miracle Dog. They have no stuffing, just a pouch with a squeaker in it which is easily replaced via the magic of velcro. The first one (chipmunk) lived for two weeks, a record here. His seams finally gave out. We have a squirrel now, solid color, fewer seams.
This is a paws down favorite here. Angel squeaks it constantly. The more it squeaks, the more excited she gets....you get the picture. We've found that putting two squeakers in the pouch seems to make both of them last longer (They've lasted more than a week). I think that since it continues to squeak, she does not get bored and shred it.
If you see this in your local pet shop and want to pick up a special treat, I'd highly recommend this. It is also available in the store on this site, along with extra squeakers. Just remember that all of that noise means your doggy is happy.

I saw the cutest rubber dachshund at PetValu. I bought it for Frankie. Well, I may as well have bought it for myself.....she refuses to play with it. I really think the noise scares her. The only toy she plays with that makes a noise is one of her balls, but it's such a quiet little squeak!
Frankie is very quiet except when she barks and snores. :flower:
Molly's Mom

We got both dogs a stuffed animal, along with some other toys for Christmas. Molly got a really cute stuffed ducky, Sammy got a dog. Of course, Molly had the eye pulled off of hers and proceeded to pull out the stuffing in the head within the first hour. Three days later, the entire duck was destroyed so much that all that was left was shredded fabric, yet Molly carried it around the house. Finally, we feared she'd get sick on the threads, so we threw it away when she wasn't looking. Otherwise, that would not have gone over well.
She also tore off the nose on Sammy's dog the first day too. Can't stick to her own toys! Both of them worked on one of the ears so much that they tore it off to pull out the stuffing in the head, along with the squeaker. Somehow, two months later, the rest of the dog is still intact.
The only stuffed animal Molly has not destroyed is her stuffed cow. We got this fleece cow with squeakers at the head and rear end that was supposed to be Molly's snuggle toy when she was a baby. Snuggle? HA! Even as a baby, she yanked that cow, which was at least twice her size, all over the room. However, she does not chew it, so it's lasted for over a year. It's funny to watch her with it because when she gets mad, that's what she takes her anger out on. If you see a chubby black dachshund jerking around a white fleece cow, watch out!
Sammy does not care for stuffies that much....UNTIL Molly has gotten it open. I guess the real fun doesn't come until you can make a big mess all over the floor. :sarcastic

I got my Ladybug a teether. It was a stuffed ladybug with hard plastic teething rings on it. Really cute. Well its wings in the six weeks or so that we have had it have been chewed down to virtually nothing. I had to take it away from my little stinker because she was biting off chunks. Sure did not want her to choke.
My little one has to hide her toys and her milkbones before she plays or eats them. Anyone out there have a puppy that does that? I find her toys and milkbones hidden EVERYPLACE. Ladybug ( Buggie) is 3&1/2 months. She is my first Doxie. My daughter is owned by her mom. So she is also my great granddog.:dog:

My little  Sasha does something along the lines of hiding. Mostly she will hide her bones. It is kinda neat to watch, she will move that one bone around and hide it at least 4x before she decides to eat it. Amazing she remembers.
The only habit with her toys is if anyone touches "her" toys she will try and get it from you, even if she isn't playing with it. When Freddy first came home no way was she sharing the little:devil: . It took Freddy 3 days putting up with that nonsense, so they share (kinda, sorta :) ).
I think it is so cute watching them play and shake their toys.

Charlie always hides his bones, it's so funny, but kinda sad because eventually you have to clean the house of the 30 rawhide bones that are poking out everywhere. The only other things he hides is his froggy.... this little green frog that he never leaves without. it was his first toy, and has surprisingly resisted any major punishment, except that it no longer squeeks. anyways, you gotta love a dachshund with his very own teadybear.
